You can buy that kind at beauty supply stores where they sell weave and such. I bought those however they're messy. They get extremely soft and fall apart. I buy the Shea moisture brand from Target. It's black and maintains it's shape. It's all natural.

Wow ok thank you.

Yes I do agree it does fall apart, but you are not supposed to keep it wet when you aren't using it. You break off a very small chunk (about the size of your thumb nail) and use it in the shower. Never let it lay in your soap holder with water on it or it will disintegrate. If you keep it dry you will have it for a very long time.

The only thing about the black bars is that it's not real african black soap. It contains ingredients from it but that's not what it looks like in it's natural raw form and it contains different ingredients to make it black and hold it's shape but it doesn't have the same benefits as the natural raw soap.

So its better to go with the brown?

Nala H.
That's what I did, Shauna. Lol it's just more of a hassle to me. And the Shea Moisture one is still natural, though like I said it has other ingredients. It still works great on my skin. I would say try the brown first and then try the black one.

Haha yeah I totally agree the raw soap can be a hassle.
I agree, try both and see what you like. Like I said the brown one you would be getting more of the natural benefits from it, but the black one still isn't bad for you, it just contains some different ingredients

Shea Moisture didn't work for me or my boyfriend, but it is all natural. I use the Dudu Osan brand which clears up our acne (his can get really bad and I just get the occasional one or two) within two days. It can be bought off Amazon or African American beauty supply stores.

Shauna is right. In order to get the promised benefits, I would advise trying the pure raw, unrefined product with no additives. Do you have any local African markets or just common beauty supply? You can usually find these products there.
