What do you mean? I just use it to define my crease and/or outer v. OR if I want like a smudged eyeliner look.

Black eye shadow can be really harsh. I would use dark brown eyeshadow and put a tint of black over it. you should blend it really well. to get a Smokey finish I sometimes blend it for 1 minute! keep practising And it will eventually come to you. you should check out Michele phans tutorials. she gives you good techniques to use :)

And I usually apply a brown shadow either before or after to soften the harshness of the black. Like saumiya said.

To blend black, use a fluffy eyeshadow brush. Don't put any product on the brush, but rub that over the already applied color till it is blended.

Don't forget to use a primer & lightly dust a matte beigy or skintone color shadow from lashes to brows so any other color you put on top of it will will blend out easier.

Tania when using black shadow always use a little product and blend and repeat the steps till you get the desired color, black can be a difficult color in my opinion also when blending it helps to use a clean brush
