Please help girls!!! I removed my fake nails to find that some of my real nails are tinged green. I've never had this happen before. I tried filing to c if it would come off and it didn't. what should I do??

Ok. I Googled it. A certified nail tech said that its a bacteria. DO NOT try & file it off! You'll only succeed in damaging your nail! It won't kill the bacteria. Its a bacteria that's feeding off all the dead skin, food particles, anything that gets trapped between the nail bed & fake nail & the green your seeing is the waste from the bacteria. RUBBING ALCOHOL will kill it! Leave nails off for a week or so & wipe the nail or nails a few times a day with the rubbing alcohol. This should clear it up! She stated that nail techs were taught for 30+ years that the green is a fungus/mold but it was only until the 1990's (she gave a more exact date) that the text books have been changed after years of research had determined its a bacteria. Hope this helps! You can Google (Nails turned green from acrylic nails) as soon as I typed in (Nails turned green) the suggestions started popping up finishing it with either "acrylic nails" "false nails" you'll see what I mean if you do a search.

It's a type of fungus that can occur from wearing fake nails. it happens when air and water gets trapped underneath. it isn't anything serious and will grow out eventually. just allow your nails to breathe for a while and possibly apply some sort of antifungal treatment on them.
