I recently read that it's good to use oil in place of shaving cream to shave your legs. I tried this and I had a horrible reaction. my legs are itchy and covered in bumps. Has this happened to anyone? any suggestions on what to do?

I've done it, but I used an oil made especially for that purpose, what kind of oil did you use?

If you used coconut oil...you might have experienced a skin allergy to it. As great as coconut oil is some folks are allergic to it. :(

I used sesame oil. I normally use that oil when I get out of the shower to moisturize and never had a problem but using it to shave was the worst decision ever.

If it was the sesame seed oil from Neutrogena then I can see why. The original formula contains fragrance so that component probably irritated your skin. :(

That's the one Shelley. Well lesson learned. I will not be doing that again.

I've never heard of this but I would imagine you would need something a little thicker than oil.

Andi it is ok to use oil just use a natural pure oil, for instance coconut or olive oil, don't use anything that has additional ingredients.

I used a sugar, olive oil with a tad bit of lemon juice. I exfoliate with the mixture with my glove. shave. rinse. repeat.
Unfortunately it doesn't slow the hairs growth but my legs are nice, smooth and moisturized getting out the shower.

Make sure you rinse the razor in very hot water in between strokes to keep the blade sharp.
