Does anyone know if the Oleylalcohol in the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor is really made out of whale or beef fat?
I googled all the ingredients and German Wikipedia told me that it is made out of whale fat and the english Wikipedia says that it is made out of beef fat. Both would be horrible. I Don't want an animal to die just because I want beautiful hair. (I am also not going to use it anymore because of the loads of silicones)
So does anyone have some more information??

Chances are an animal didn't specifically die to make the product. It's likely just a cheap filler that is derived from scraps that would usually be thrown away. If anything it makes the deaths of animals for human consumption better because there is hardly any waste and almost the entire animal is used. Stearyl alcohol, Oleyl alcohol and Octyldodecanol are products that are found is 90% of health and beauty products because they do everything from give your skin a soft texture, give soaps their foamy appearance and keep products from or help to emulsify products. The only real concern in the product would be the silicones. Silicones coat the hair strand and scalp and while they may make your hair look "healthy" it's a temporary fix and actually prevents other products from working and you can end up in worse shape than when you started. Go to a salon or even on a site like amazon and eBay if you can't get yourself to pay the full price and invest in a higher quality brand name.

Thanks! That really calms my mood down :)
I was so shocked when I read about the whale fat!
I am already aware of silicones and found a cheaper and silicone-free alternative for my hair :)

For further reference, wikipedia in general isn't very trustworthy. The various articles can easily be edited by almost anyone.

I don't see that ingredient! I am a vegetarian , and I would most DEFIANTLY discontinue my usage if it included whale or beef fat.

Yes I have the reconstructor and I think Aussie used the oleylalcohol only in this product because I couldn't find it in my shampoo or my conditioner ;)

Its a regional thing in regards to ingredients due to government regulations. So what may be an accepted ingredient in one country could be banned by another. There is a facial cream sold out of the UK from Charlotte Tilbury that I want and Selfridges isn't allowed to ship it to the US due to some ingredient that isnt FDA approved. I wish all the countries got on board with a umiversal list of approved ingredients to make a product.
