I've heard that BH is just as good as anything else, at like 20 $ for a 120 color palette. I was just wondering if I should save for MAC, or spend on things like BH?

Those BH palettes can be purchased on eBay for less than what BH charge (those 120 palettes are just wholesale palettes manufactured in China anyway), and often with free shipping. Personally, I've always been skeptical of those sorts of palettes, not to mention I wouldn't use most of the colours in them anyway.
As for "Is MAC worth it?", it depends. Christine at Temptalia put these price-per-ounce charts together for high end lip and eye products for reference.

In my view, some of MAC's eyeshadows are quite good (Satin Taupe, Indian Ink, and Shale are faves of mine); others, not so much. For example, don't bother with Carbon (their matte black e/s); there are better and blacker matte black eyeshadows out there on the market. (Makeup Geek Corrupt is roughly the same size as Carbon, is much more pigmented, and the pan version costs half as much. MUFE #4 is much blacker, is twice the size, and costs, I think, just $5 more than the compact version of Carbon.)
Basically, shop around, look up swatches online, and take it from there.
