You just have to keep your hair healthy and shiny to prevent breakage. the growth of your hair is mainly genetics, some are lucky and their hair grows fast, some arent. but you can still keep your diet healthy, eat a lot of veggies and fruits and antioxidants, to achieve healthy and strong new hair.

Avoid using any heat on your hair (blow dryer, curling iron, etc.) as that can damage your hair. Try to avoid dying it also. Don't wash your hair everyday because it will take away the oils from your scalp. I've also seen a bunch of crazy hair growth methods on YouTube but I don't know if they actually work. Most of it is just patience!

DONT TAKE PILLS!! That can cause health problems! I'd recommend doing the basics, coconut oil, and vitamins but not pills!!

Hair growth is based on genetics, the health of you & your hair. so the only way to promote growth is to keep yourself & your hair in good health.
Do not just go taking pills (including biotin). You can end up with side effects serious enough to put you in the hospital. always ask your doctor first.
Some tips to promote growth:
get trims regularly (split ends will go higher up the longer you wait & then you'll have to cut off more hair)
drink a lot of water
use as little heat as possible
always use a heat protectant, I recommend It's a 10
don't brush your hair while it's wet
do hot oil treatments (I use coconut oil)
use a deep conditioner (I use Aussie 3 minute miracle)
use hair masks (store bought or diy)
try a leave in conditioner
keep in mind that there are no miracle products or methods. good luck in growing your hair! :)

Don't shampoo you're scalp too much. It takes away the natural oils. I've taken biotin and didn't see much results and I've heard TERRIBLE things about it. I suggest you look up the inversion method. I've heard it works pretty good depending on the person who uses it. Hope this helped :)

I meant don't shampoo the ends. -__- lol let the shampoo run from your scalp down.
