Which should I do first?

Should I color my hair and then cut it or cut it and then color it? I cut my split ends and layer my hair myself and I dye it myself so I was wondering which would be better. I do have some dry ends, not necessarily split. I keep thinking if I color it first it will make the ends even dryer and then began to split up the hair shaft but if I cut it first when it's not split then would I be wasting having long hair? Cause I love my long hair :/ the dye that I use doesn't show much signs of damage.

I always do my own hair as well. What I did was dye it first so my hair was wet whilst cutting after washing it out. Either, or, will do though. I prefer cutting my hair dry, but if you prefer cutting it wet I'd dye first.
