If you're curious, here's PEETA's list of cosmetic brands that test on animals. I was quite disappointed at what I found. http://features.peta.org/cruelty-free-company-search/cruelty_free_companies_search.aspx?Donottest=-1&Product=0&Dotest=8&Regchange=-1&Country=-1&Keyword=

I felt the same. I had no clue that so many brands still animal test. It's crazy!

This is heartbreaking! I wish they would test it on themselves, not the animals! there are so many too... so sad.

This is just unfortunate.

That pisses me off.

That's just ridiculous. so many of them I don't even understand why they need to test on animals.

They test medicines and methods of finding new medical discoveries and cancer research on animals. How many of you are against that as well?

I just feel bad for animals cuz they have no say, and no one is going to protect them from things they don't know is coming. I totally understand that testing them for medicine and things is for a good cause, I just feel so bad for the way animals are treated these days. humans feel they have power and superiority over them, which makes them think they can do anything they want to the poor creatures, and in the end they get no respect... that's why I think its sad.

I understand its different, seeing how make up won't save any lives. There are situations where they are tested on humans, after a stage to ensure the medication or treatment isnt fatal to humans. Its to see how we could react to things. To sound the most humane about this, I feel safer if these items are tested on animals first, instead of killing off humans because someone combined chemicals fatal to us and put it in Febreeze or some everyday item.

Yeah, I understand the testing for 'everyday items' I just feel bad for them cuz they don't have a voice and they never signed up for it. I think it would be a better world if everyone went natural, no dangerous chemicals to be afraid of.

I'm sure the animals would appreciate it too...

I could see your point about natural and no dangerous chemicals. I also agree, but I find when I buy natural product it doesn't work as well. :/ it is unfortunate we test on animals, but I wouldn't say it isn't unnecessary.

I disagree, anything man made and processed is going to hurt you in the end. natural things always encourage growth and health and healing. for example, the best things for your hair is oils. not chemicaly products, but oils that come straight from the earth.

"Necessary" suggests that we need to do it. Cosmetics don't NEED to be worn. Even medical treatment doesn't NEED to be developed. These are things that 21st century society decided we wanted. The cold, hard truth is that animal testing isn't something that should have to happen. We survived just fine before animal testing.
Don't get me wrong, I wear makeup, I use a lot of these brands. But I'm under no illusions. They test on animals because it's cheap and easy. And I often buy these products for a similar reason.
I just feel like we need to be honest with ourselves.

Wow that's crazy how and why would they test these things on animals? and tbh I was a little shocked to see so many high end brands

We lived without these things yes, but the average age to live until was also 30 or 40. Make up is not necessary, its a choice. Medical issues aren't a choice. Those who 'survived' without animal testing could die of simple problems because of lack of proper medicine. I'm not for animal testing but I'm saying I would much rather that than kill off humans. There's animals bred specifically for testing. We would be no where in medical advancements without animal testing, in which case I would be all for. The animals died or whatever you wanna claim happened to them but saved thousands of people's lives. See them as heroes as opposed to victims.

OK, Allison w, that is a good point from a humans point of view. but think about how the animals point of view. our job on earth is to protect ourselves, the earth, and the animals. many people are doing wonders caring and protecting themselves, but never give a second thought towards the animals or the earth.

For me medical is ok because it could save a life, but for cosmetic absolutely not. It's not a life or death situation and there's no reason you should test it on animals. Unfortunately so many brands do it now that it is hard to avoid. I'm kind of being a hypocrite by writing this because rn I have maybelline mascara on my eyes and that's animal tested. *sigh*.

Cancer isn't the only medical advancement that's tested on animals. Vaccines, organ transplants, and even artificial heart valves are to thank because of animal testing.

Haven't you all realised that humans destroy everything we come into contact with? We are the ONLY animals that not only doesn't live harmony with our environment but that damages it too. The sad truth is the world would be a nicer, cleaner, balanced place without humans.
