Why does my hair look so short when I haven't cut it?

Okay so let me explain. This happens to me sometimes and I hope I'm not the only one! Some days (like today) my hair looks so short! But I haven't cut it... Other days I'm like yay my hair looks long...but then it will look short again! My hair is past my boobs and down my back... But today it looks a lot shorter...
Does this happen to you? is it because of damage? should I go get a haircut (I'm kinda scared of haircuts because they cut so much and then my hair will REALLY look short) any advice or anything will help(: thanks!

It does , I noticed when my hair is curly its shorter and when its wet or straight its longer
maybe thats what happens to you , is your hair curly when you notice its shorter?

No it's always wavy... And oh yeah! When my hair is wet it looks  long.

Yeahh that kinda weird I don't know why that happens to you. and yeahh thats cus when your hairs wet its kinda straight

Everybody's hair appears longer when wet just because of the weight of the water on the hair. And depending on your hair type throughout the day maybe it's humid & your scalp starts to sweat causing hair to wave/coil which could make it seem shorter :)
