Hi everyone, just wanted to ask if anyone know any good tips or face washes for really oily skin? I've tried nuetrogena products so much that it's starting to make my forehead shiny & now breaking out, just on my forehead. I've also read about the Phillips Milk of Magnesia & started using it for about 3 weeks and just stopped. I wash my face apply the milk of magnesia , then primer and after my foundation and after all of that it looks oily. Help Pleasssse!!

Milk of magnesia isn't ment for everyday use. That may explain your breakouts. What foundation and primer are you using?

Really, its the only way my face won't look so oily, but after using it everyday it's starting to not make a difference.
The brand of primer I use is smashbox & foundation is L'oreal true match.

I've used that combo when my skin was super oily, and my skin hated the smashbox primers! I tried the regular one, oil free, and blemish one, with no result. I think you should try Hourglass mineral veil primer, you can get the travel size for 18 bucks and it lasts forever. It is amazing, it mattifies, keeps more pores shut, and makes my foundation blend amazingly. Also setting it with a setting powder will really help.

Quick question bitia what are you using for your skin care? If you are using products with alcohol and stripping your skin of oil you are only triggering more oil production. Skin is a sensory organ.. If you take it will want to compensate for it.

& no, my skin isn't really sensitive. until now I'm just breaking out bad on my forehead and looking really oily & shiny. I hardly break out. that's why I stopped the milk of magnesium since I read bad reviews about it.

Milk of magnesia's PH is not meant for your skin and can just cause damage so it's not so bad the bad reviews but the science behind it.
Are you moisturizing at all?

I really like Soap and Glory's Peaches and Clean, Freeman Black Sugar and charcoal facial polishing mask and freeman lemon and mint mask and baking soda as a microdermabrasion scrub..all help keep oily skin clear..also use Merle Norman's lasting foundation works really well.

So I should just discontinue the using of milk of magnesia? and the only lotion I put on my face is called Jergens.

And yes you shouldn't use milk of magnesia every day.

Women use it as primer so I thought that was what it was used for.

I wouldn't ever use the milk of magnesia period. Your skins PH is important especially when it comes to dealing with acne and oil production.
You need a moisturizer, oily skin does not mean you don't. Last thing you want is to have both dry AND oily skin. It sounds like you are stripping your skin so much that now the oil production is going into overdrive. I recommend using the Cetaphil line, very successful for oily skin. Removing make up with a non comedogenic oil can help you. An oil like jojoba oil, Squalane, mimic the skins sebum. Basic chemistry here... Like dissolves like so you can use a bit 2-3 drops as a moisturizer as well. This way it replaces the sebum your skin produces and basically tricks it into thinking there's already oil. To clear up those little heads a nice BHA can do. The neutrogena rapid clear line has a Acne lotion which is a BHA. This also means your skin is being exfoliated as deep as into your pores so you don't need to physically exfoliate if you do use it.
