I'm thinking of trying this foundation. Has anyone tired it and had issues? I have sensitive pretty dry skin, and I'm having trouble finding a foundation that doesn't look super cakey on me. If not the bare minerals, does anyone have any suggestions?

I love the Urban Decay NAKED foundation.
I tried the BM foundation in stores and it seemed ok, but waaaay to yellow based for my taste. But that was just in the three shades I tried.

Thanks Erin! I just finished a bottle of the Naked Skin, and I also really liked it. Some days though, even it seemed to cake up on me, and would show some of my dry patches a bit, but that wasn't a problem all the time. If I don't end up loving the bare minerals, or if it doesn't color match me well, I'll definitely be buying another Naked Foundation.
Did you have any trouble with it setting all the way? No foundation I've tried so far sets fully on me, and even after a few hours, they can still feel a bit tacky.

I think you should definitely try out the bare minerals foundation:) It's had many great reviews and its not cakey at all, yet it has great coverage and a little goes a long way. I didn't have problems with it setting because I used a translucent powder over.:)

I had dry skin and tried this and when I first applies it I loved it! But after a while I noticed it setting in my pores so the next time I used it I used a primer first and the same thing happened. Then one time I called someone on my phone, and when I put the phone down make up was all over my screen! The finish just felt oily to me even with a setting powder so I ended up returning it.

Hmm thank you Alicia. I'll take that into consideration!

I loved it, I have very oily skin. But I did have trouble with it because it was not working with my primer and so I bought the oil control primer from bare minerals and it works so well. If you have issues with it, try a primer from bare minerals for your skin type

Thank you Veronica! I may try that! what primer Were you using that caused the trouble?

For some reason my hourglass mineral veil wasnt holding up but when I used both the bare minerals primer it worked well.. The mineral veil only works for oily skin.

It looks soooo good on you!! You don't even look like your wearing anything on.

Thank you Veronica! I really doesn't feel like much on my skin either, which is wonderful, and it covered my acne fairly well! I'll need to wear it more to see exactly how much I like it, but I do love the way it looks!

Which shade is it, and how many drops did you end up doing?
Jun 23, 2014
Lela B.
I'm using shade 3, Bare Linen, and I used 4 drops, two on each side of my face with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I haven't tried a primer with it yet, because I wasn't going anywhere tonight. :)

I think it looks lovely on you! Especially for not using a primer, or the perfecting face brush. Just out of curiousity, how did you apply it? Did you dot it, streak it, buff right away, what? I have a preferred method, but I like to hear how other people have had successful applications in other ways, so I can share them with my clients, rather than just one. c:

Thank you so much Alli! I started buffing right away. I always like to be able to buff a foundation right into my skin. What is your preferred way to apply it, so maybe I can try that too?

I see! That brush really must make a difference, because when I've used the perfecting brush and buffed immediately, it left an imprint from the brush and just looked...off. I like to streak it five times down the face first (forehead, bridge of the nose, once on each cheek, and chin) and then buff it in. So not too much different really. Well thank you for sharing! I have a lot of clients that are hesitant to commit to purchasing the brush, and they always ask what brush they can use instead, and I honestly didn't know how to answer because I haven't experimented with other brushes lol. Now I can recommend this one! Too bad it's not a bareMinerals brush haha. :p.

I thought about purchasing the brush, but I didn't like the way it felt on my skin. I also always buff it in really well. Sometimes this brush leaves streaks, but I didn't notice it with this foundation so far.
Thank you for sharing how you do it! I'll probably try that too!

My store only had 3 shades ( I don't know if there are more) and all were too dark for me. Personally, I love their mineral foundations but I think the liquid needs work. When I tried it the finish was super oily even with setting powder over it. I tried not only a drugstore powder but the mineral veil from bare minerals that I already owned. Also, it gets on everything and rubs off your face super easily... When I did finally get it in my color I realized it was all over my phone , my finger tips, and the inside of my work hat... Also I feel that with any sort of acne or scarring ( which I have a lot of) it doesn't cover well. But, it is buildable and I have actually layered it with the mineral foundations and the look is really nice. Overall, I wouldn't spend the money on this product. I would rather have something that's a little but cheaper and works better. They have some work to do with this foundation before I would repurchase.

Thank you for the detailed review Kendra! My store had quite a few more shades, I think about 12? So far, I'm liking it, it does seem to set on me pretty well, but I tried it with the porefessional primer today, and I don't think I like those two together for sure, so I'm going to wear it to work without the primer tomorrow, and see what happens.

@ Lela B.
Glad it's worked out for you so far! I do think I need to go somewhere else to get the shade that matches my skin. I actually borrowed my shade from a friend who lives out of state since I couldn't find any in my area!
