Hello everyone could I get acrylic nails but then after a while could I paint my own nails but still have the acrylic nails on? Pretty much what I'm trying to say is that if I get acrylic nails could I paint them with my nail polish or is there a special type of nail I have to get so I can do that? Please help, thank you so much!!

First off I would recommend getting GEL instead of acrylic. The acrylic is very thick and for me in the past it has actually caused my own nail to crack right down the middle.
Now you definitely can paint over a set of nails, however I find it always makes them look chunky and really fake. But I guess it depends how thick the nails are.
So normal nail polish will work, but my past experience was that using nail polish remover to take off the polish left the gel nails feeling gross and made the gel look kinda cloudy.

I'm all for acrylics, since I've tried both and found gel break too easy and are just as damaging as acrylics. They're more for beginners, to get used to them. Just my opinion. I sometimes paint my own acrylics and they turn out fine. I think its all in the application.

@Allison W. So if I do get acrylics, what would I ask for them to do? Just wondering 😊

A full acrylic set and depending on how you want them painted like if you want just the tips like French tips or if you want the whole nail. :)

As long as you're using non acetone nail polish remover to take off the polish that you picked when you first got them done your nail should still look fine once it's all off to paint again.
