If you treat it, it shouldn't damage it that much. That's a pretty color :)

It will damage your hair somewhat because the dye has to lift the cuticle to let out some of your natural pigment and replace it with the dye's pigment. If you use a high quality dye (like l'oreal magicolor) rather than a box dye and a no higher than a 20 volume developer the cuticle will be lifted but with good conditioning treatments and care it can be smoothed down again and the hair will keep its integrity.
If you want to colour almost no damage you should look into coconut oil. It is a chelating agent and it stops the dye reacting with copper and iron in your hair which greatly reduces the damage. What you do is saturate your hair with coconut oil the night before you dye it then add a little more oil an hour before you dye it. You apply the dye over the oil an process it as normal. A lot of people using this method even reported the dye uptake being better.

I damaged mine when I did it myself but it looked great when I got it done at a salon. Red is definitely the hardest color to get out of your hair and it takes a lot of maintenance to keep it looking vibrant.

I think you should try the LUSH henna dye, they have a colour which would go that colour. You can find them on the website:)
