I have aqua blue converse that I want to dye gray. I was going to get the RIT dye in a gray shade and soak the sneakers in that solution. since the sneakers are blue will they turn a funky color since I'm not dyeing them complete black? also with the rubber soles of the shoes turn gray as well?? has anyone had experience with this.

Acrylic paint works so much better for changing the colors. And you can keep parts you don't want painted safe.

Put Vaseline on the soles and outer rims to stop them dying the colour grey:)
