Hi girls so I've dyed my hair with a blonde box hair dye for a long time and everytime my roots come through I dye my whole head again and realised that's why my hits snapping! So I youtubed the best way to put my dye on just my roots and they used tinfoil, I was wondering why is this? And do you only need to use tin foil if I use bleach to do my roots? I'm still going to be using my normal box hair dye!

I think it has to do with speeding up the bleaching process??
I could be wrong though

Only use foil when you are highlighting to separate the highlighted color from the rest of your hair, that's the purpose of foils, it also retains the heat and moisture in the foil packet so your hair color receives it's maximum lift, if you plan on doing an all over color just use a plastic cap and you'll receive the same maximum level of lift

You use the foil as it keeps the heat in and heat activates bleach, making the bleach work quicker and sometimes also you achieve a lighter blonde , I'd use a toner or purple shampoo and only apply to roots (leave on for 20 minutes, continue for the next
Fortnight ) I know as I'm a blonde , very light blonde.
