So I have quite dark brown hair and I've had highlights in it since October. Last Monday I got it dyed a redish brown colour and I loveee it. I know hair dye slowly washes out but I feel like this past week sooo much of the colour has washed out my hair it doesn't even look red anymore and you can start to see my highlights coming through. I have extremely oily hair so I usually wash my hair everyday. I'm also allergic to pretty much every shampoo so I can only use my Aveeno Shampoo and not a colour treated shampoo. Is colour supposed to wash out that fast?

Red is the hardest color to maintain, because it's the biggest color molecule. What you should do is get a shampoo for red hair, or you can add red dye into your shampoo and conditioner. Try to avoid washing your hair as much as possible, the running water is really to blame for the running hair dye. Dry shampoo is your friend. You're right to use a sulfate free shampoo though! :) let me know if you have more questions

I have red hair on the tips and I wash it with cold water and use John freida conditioner for red hair and use a loreal colored hair mask as well.

Okay thank you! Yeah I love red hair so much but it fades so quickly. I just hate not washing my hair everyday it makes it feel so greasy, I've never tried a dry shampoo before I'll have to try some. And the only problem with me using a different shampoo for red hair is that my skin is highly allergic to other shampoo's. I've tried dozens and I always have an allergic reaction.

What ingredient are you allergic to? Have you ever tried Pureology?

I'm not sure, I've been going to doctors and dermatologists for the past 6 years to find out why my skin reacts so badly to things and I still haven't found out why :( And no I haven't tried Pureology

Well, you can always go to a drugstore, do a patch test on the back of your wrists and see what happens, but it's a natural brand so it might not irritate you :)

I've had this problem as well! apparently before dying your hair. try not to wash it for at least 3am days. and as Hannah said..dry shamp is truly your best friend.
