You're still quite young at 14 there isn't a whole lot you can do just yet. Practice makeup on your friends/family, on yourself even, play around with facecharts.

If you can, get a job at some sort of cosmetic store. Surround yourself with makeup and other women who will ask you for advice. You'll learn a lot in the training process about what products are best for what issues etc. and I think that's a valuable thing to do. But again, that will come with age. For now, just play around, work on other girls you know and get your practice in before you can get really serious. :)

Aww Symone thanks for mentioning me with this topic! I'm going to overload you with information, ideas and advice Josii so get ready. Hope I don't bore you to tears because I tend to type way more than necessary sometimes.

1.) You are still really young. Use this to your advantage. Have all your girlfriends come over and do a makeup party. Once you get around my age (17, 18 in 2 months) getting all your friends together at the same time becomes damn near impossible. Everybody's either working or doesn't have the car.
-That's really great that you started doing makeup on others so early. I just started this year and it is a whole different ballgame than doing it on yourself.

-Try to experiment with some different skin types and ages. Do your friend one day, an older family member the next day, maybe a younger sibling or cousin too. Don't just do their makeup "for the day", but try to think of different scenarios in your head. For example:
-A 17 year old going to prom
-A 40-50 year old woman having date night with her husband
-A mom of three that has never worn makeup in her life before
-A woman that needs something quick she can do in the morning before work
-A 12 year old competing in a cheer comp
-A 13 year old going to her first school dance
-A woman of any age that is good at doing makeup, but wants to spice it up
Doing this is really going to help you. I know for fact that most makeup counters require you to do a makeup application during the interview process. For instance many people apply to MAC, and one of their popular scenarios is turning a day look into night by just adding a few products. If you've practiced the list above, this should be a piece of cake for you.

Have about 3-4 trusty looks that you can depend on. My list is:
-A dark black smokey eye
-A colorful eye look
-Simple eyes with a bold lip
-An everyday, "plain look."
Pick some products and your technique. Practice practice practice until you can do these looks in your sleep. I have my dark smokey eye down to a T and I can do it in less than five minutes. This is really going to help you when it comes to doing makeup on an array of people. If they come to you and say "I want a blue eyeshadow look," You already know your colorful eye look and you just have to tweak it to fit them.
I strongly believe in game plans and strategies before doing anything. There is a great app called Glamzy that allows you do Facecharts digitally. Everything is done with your finger and you can realistically "blend" the makeup by diffusing the ends of the "brush." It's a really nice app.
As far as jobs, you're only 14 so don't worry too much about that. Allthough you can legally and easily get a job at 16, most makeup places won't hire until 18. Use the next four years to practice practice practice and build up a collection of your work. Pretty much a portfolio. Nowadays you can do this all through social media. Just make an Instagram account strictly for your makeup. I think it'd be pretty cool to show a boss that you have looks dating back from when you 14 :-)
Good luck to you!
