I have been having a hell of a time trying to have the perfect base for my makeup..Being my skin. I have severe acne so soon I'll probably be on acutane and I have hyper redness and big pores on my cheeks my skin is very sensitive and is dry and oily. I have spoken to estiticians at my ulta and my spa and I would love if some of you make up ladies could suggest foundation concealer and powder that would be a good fit for my skin type. They suggested a few makeup brands but I would like a make up artists view as well, I would love if someone could please respond <3.

Well I'm not a professional but I'll give you my opinion. I've always had sensitive and reactive skin so it's always been hard for me to find products that work.

Skincare
This is key to making your skin get better. If you're looking for skincare products I highlyyyy recommend Simple Skincare gel cleanser, toner, and hydrating light moisturizer. It's all non irritating and soothing and not drying. It's the only skincare my skin has tolerated.

Foundation
- For acne you should probably try a powder because it will let your skin breathe easier.
- Bare Minerals
- Hourglass Oxygen Foundation
- Clinique
- Cover Fx
- Tarte

Concealer
- Cover Fx

Powder
- Marcelle Pressed Powder
- Cover Fx Setting Powder

Primer
- Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
- Cover Fx Anti Acne Treatment Primer

Thank you, I use dermalogica for my skin care. And I appreciate your response the estiticians I spoke too recommended pur minerals and it cosmetics and dermablend for heavier covrage but I want my natural skin to peak through even though I do want more coverage.

Oh yes Pur Minerals is also a pretty good brand, I've used some of their products before they just don't carry a shade light enough for me in foundation lol. You might also want to consider checking out L'Oreal True Match. It's definitely cheaper than all my other suggestions and it's what I'm currently using right now. I love it. It's non-irritating on my skin and it has such a nice smooth satin finish. It has a light/medium coverage so it lets the skin breath but you can still build it up in certain areas where you want more coverage.

When I previously worked at Ulta, I occasionally had clients come in with large pores and severe acne. Here's what I recommended: 1) Prime with Smashbox Photo Finish green corrector first for your skin to "magically" reduce its redness, and cover large pores by patting and rolling on Too Faced Primed & Poreless with your fingers 2) Dermablend foundation is really great for coverage 3) Too Faced concealer for under-eyes and blemishes because it is thick and creamy 4) Set with a silica powder, like Make Up For Ever HD, so it's not cake-y and heavy-looking

Yea she put the cc cream on me and then the 4 in 1 foundation I believe. It wasn't flawless but it made a difference. And thanks so much Mary R. as well. I take my skin seriously and I want to baby it, it's a damn shame I have such severe acne. And I'm trying to stay away from drugstore face products cuz it just hurts my skin.

Clinique is amazing for sensitive skin as it contains no fragrances what so ever and also doesn't block up pores. Also maybe be a slightly personal question but have you considered talking to your doctor about going onto the combined contraceptive pill? it is an absolute dream for acne and spots, (doesn't have to be used specifically for sex) and since being on the pill I have had near to no spots what so ever, maybe one tiny spot every few weeks? it's worth having a conversation with your doctor! but I would definitely vote for Clinique for makeup and facial products ♡ xxx

Yea I have an appointment with my obgyn about contraceptives so I'm sure that will help to some degree. I have like really bad cystic, inflamed acne and I'm just trying everything before I do accutane, it's just a scary step for me. Right now I'm on a different pill for it but my dermatologist was like well sense you're 20 and it's getting progressively worse accutane is the only thing that will help in the long run.

You and I have the same exact skin. Here's what I do to make my makeup stay on perfectly fit.
Skin care- Mornings- Wash my face with the Olay exfoliating cleanser.
moisturizer- Aveeno radiant
Night- cleanse my face using my clarisonic sensitive brush with Cetaphill cleanser
-Tone my face using a brand called simple. (from target)
-I use a mask from lush called" Cupcake" this make helps with the oilyness, and breakouts such as acne and pimples.
-moisturizer- Aveeno radiant.
Notice all the products I use on my face are all so very sensitive and oil free. Make sure to look for that when you are buying skin care products.

primer- Don't wear primer, but I moistureise.
Foundation- Est?e lauder double wear, The coverage is amazing & very good for us oily girls.
Concealer- Mac pro long wear, Great Coverage.
powder- Rimmel stay matte, literally the best powder out in the market now. & only about $4!
And just to let you now MakeUp Forever hd is not a great foundation for oily people.

Thank you Mariam. I had a facial recently (which was a dream) I need to have it done more often but who has the money for that lol. Anyway, the estitician told me I had more oily skin which I don't know cuz like my skin is so dry and tight and plus the other professional I spoke too said I have dry skin which I agree with. My oil is mostly just my T zone and everywhere else is dry as hell. But lately my T zone hasn't produced any excess oil so I don't know. My skin is so unpredictable. Haha.

Your skin is more of a combination, then oily.

I would have to agree with the birth control. It did wonders for my consistent blemishes.

This is my first post ever, but I feel compelled to give you some advice and share my experience. First, I had acne from the age of 13 and after exploring every avenue, including BCP which didn't make a dent. Took Accutane at age 32. It changed my life, but the effect isn't permanent. It will last about 15 years and I took it well over 20 years ago and don't regret it for a minute. Since it will make your skin even more sensitive, particularly to sunlight, it's best to do it in the fall or winter. Sunscreen is essential. If you think your skin is sensitive now, it will become more so, but it's only for the time you are on the meds. I'm a big fan of Paula's Choice and I'd recommend starting on their routing for sensitive or combination skin now; her customer service folks are excellent. Your skin will give new meaning to the word dry (drink lots of water) and might even be a bit sore, a totally new experience for me. My lips peeled in sheets and for the first time I had to use moisturizer and a dewy foundation. Wait until you start the regiment and try out samples of foundations, particularly emollient, fragrance free ones. Too much brushing/buffing can further irritate your skin. I never needed to powder. Lip treatments are essential, but don't use anything with mint or menthol on your skin or lips. Lipstick would just drag and crack because my lips were so dry. Don't invest too much money in the creamy make-up products because your skin will normalize once you are off the meds and may go back to being a bit oily; never as bad as before, though. All these years later, I still get breakouts and cystic lumps, but never as bad as years past. My teenage son is afflicted with my bad skin and if not for my concerns about the depressive/suicidal effect associated with Accutane, I'd have him try it. Good luck!

Thank you, I suffer from depression and anxiety and that's another concern of mine too.
