My hairstylist colored my hair too dark ( I feel ) to match a darker patch near the top of my head. I don't like the dark red cola look on me personally and want to get color with more copper than fake red. I have had many colors in my life and am at a
stage in life where I want something less fake looking that will cover quite a lot of grey-ugh. I am naturally brunette with those greys I mentioned. How difficult will it be to change this- lighter mean bleach I imagine. Any advice / opinions welcome please!

The good news is that red fades fast and will lighten up soon. the bad news is that it probably won't lighten up enough. in order to go.lighter, you would have to lighten up your hair with bleach and then do an all over color. your stylist may use a color remover, or a mixture of shampoo, bleach, and developer (the shampoo acts as a buffer to make the bleach a little more gentle). with any bleach process you may get some damage, but not a ton. you should go back to your stylist asap and tell her your not comfortable with the color.

Agree with Kelly red fades, even natural red heads fade. Regarding current color red cola and you want a more copper color please have it done professionally. Color correction is much more expensive than getting it done correctly in a salon. Red appears to be hardest color to keep in and get out of hair so letting a professional who is educated on color wheel, bases etc.will alleviate any problems.

Thanks Kelly. This will be the 2nd time I have to tell her to lighten it up-strange as I've been going to her for about a year now-every 4-6 weeks. A few months back I was doing my own roots to save money. There was a slightly darker patch near the roots that she wanted to blend the new color with, but I just want want back the color I've had for quite a few years now. In dark lighting and dimly lit photos you can't even tell I'm a redhead! I will bring lots of pics and tell her to bleach if necessary. There are certainly worse things in the world but Beautylish women understand!
