How to avoid getting brassy hair when lightening it from brown?

Any purple shampoo? Like my mind can't wrap around that, and where can we buy toner? What does it look like? I've never had to use, my hair lightens really well, but she's always going darker then her natural, this is her first time going lighter.

We don't have Sally's and she's freaking out because I usually dye her hair and cut it, but she moved in November 6 hours away and this will be he first time dying her hair herself in four years.

A purple shampoo and leave it in for 10-20 minutes and it should help, if the toner doesn't work it means her hair isn't light enough for it to work.

I personally like the fudge brand for purple shampoo or the John Frieda I think it is, is in a clear bottle and is a very dark purple colour, was my favourite toning shampoo ever :)
