I am going to be getting my hair bleached a bit to lighten up my color, (that's another post). What should I do to prepare it so that I can lessen the damage? I have a lot of hair that is on the dry side. Please mention actual brands so I can do this right before I go to the salon.

Thanks Cali! I could go to Sally's or Walmart. I am willing to spend $ at a salon too. I am usually very budget conscious but in this case I will spend!

Opinion vary on this. Some stylists will tell you to come in with dirty hair and some don't. Personally, I always clarify using Redken Cleansing Cream and use a moisturizing mask/treatment like Kerastase Nutritive Masque or Fekkai Protein Rx. I do this the night before and I don't put any product in hair.

I like to use deep repair masks for a few weeks before and I'll go in with 2nd day hair. I find with bleach if it's on dirtier hair I don't get any chemical burns. My scalp is extremely sensitive though.
