I actually think it looks real cute with curls, but I'm a sucker for curls!!
I have this 4-days straight spray that I spray in my hair before I straighten my hair and it makes my hair look great for a couple of days and I then don't need heat on it everyday :)

Tia no the spay only last between washes unfortunately! do you use dry shampoo between washes?

I think it's cute. Just needs a lil product IMO. Maybe a mouse, leave in conditioner, light gel, curl activator, ect. Scrunch product into wet hair. Twist a few curls into the direction and shape you want and let dry. When 95% dry scrunch to loosen product and add a light pump hair spray if needed. I specialize in curly hair and think it could be super cute if I could get my hands on it!! For day two I'd try to rinse only and repeat styling. Some ppl claim their curls get better the next day.

Tia, you can also get dry shampoo that isn't white. So no more nana hair for your friend! :)
