What are the benefits of exfoliating my face? Is it something worth doing?

Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that can block pores and cause breakouts, as well as dull your complexion, leaving your skin healthy and glowy. I maintain that it's worth doing, as I exfoliate morning and night with my Clarisonic, but that's just what works for me. I find that it makes my skin less dry (so long as I follow with moisturizer), because it's removing all the dead cells so that I'm not applying product to dead skin, but to healthy skin. It's not something that it's necessary to do all the time, but a few times a week shouldn't hurt. especially if you're having problems with dry patches or patchy foundation.
Also, I know you know this because you've been around, threads like this belong in the skincare section. I'll move it, but remember that next time please!

Do you need a face brush (probably not what it's called lol) when you exfoliate? or you just need whatever exfoliating face wash?

Lol face brushes do exfoliate, but you can also use a face scrub like Neutrogena Rapid Clear foaming scrub or any sort of scrub that uses bursting beads as opposed to harsh pieces of shells and such. You can also chemically exfoliate like with ExfoliKate by Kate Somerville, which works by using enzymes to remove the dead skin and make your face glow. It's also nice because it's non-abrasive unlike many traditional scrubs.
