Try kool-aid! It sounds odd, but it's great for temporary hair dye. It takes a bit more touching up, but it's cheap and not damaging. There's ton of tutorials on YouTube you could check out (:

I use Adore semi permanent hair dye. I have black hair, so I had to bleach my hair almost 3 times for my color ( Purple Rage ) to show up. I would say for brown hair, use a 30 volume bleach on your hair for an hour, then you should be able to dye it. For your friend, she wouldn't need to bleach her hair cause its already blonde.

You could also try chalking your hair if you guys want something that's only gonna last til your next wash. If you want something a little longer lasting, I love Jerome Russell Punky Colors and Special Effects. You're gonna have to bleach your hair to get anything to show up, but your friend should be fine with what she's got already. Good luck!

Are you willing to bleach your hair? Are you hoping for it to last or to fade quickly??
If you want to use an actual dye, you'll need to bleach your hair for it to show up vibrantly. If you want a dye that fades pretty quickly, use Punky Colour by Jerome Russel, you can get it at Ulta. If you want it to last a while, use Directions or Special Effects, you can get those brands online and maybe in some local smoke shops. Also, if you can buy online try ION Color Brilliance Brights at Sallys Beauty Supply, it's an amazing brand, a little difficult to work with though.

The Raw color from Hot Topic actually lasts a pretty long time if you take care of it correctly. I can get my purple to last over a month. Just make sure to condition it well and try not to get shampoo on it and NEVER wash your hair with hot water. Keep it as cold as you can stand. That way it won't bleed. What I also do a lot of the time is mix a little dye in with my conditioner and use that, it really improves the staying power.
Your friend should have no trouble with the color showing up, but you probably will since your hair is darker. You don't have to hard core bleach it, just lighten it a few shades. You can use Sun In if you're okay with that- I know a lot of people hate it haha. Just tone it with purple shampoo if it ends up looking too orange for you. Good luck and have fun!! :)
