I don't know if it's cold where you are but you wear a beanie...just show a little hair up top...so it won't look like your trying to cover your whole head.

I'd test a curl tomorrow. If they are springy or tight...you can spray them lightly and comb them out later for the party..leaving you with loose curls. If you used very large rods and know how tight your curls will be..I'd wear a bandana.
