I have very dark brown hair which looks almost black. I want to highlight it to a purple or a deep red colour. but I have seen that people who get red highlight have just bleached blonde hair couple weeks later. so if I get d highlights, will they fade eventually? I really don't want that :(

Well all hair fades eventually, if you really want I'd go with the purple because dark purple fades into light purple which fades in lavender, so it stays a nice colour for a while. After it fades you just have to re dye it, no biggie.
Though to avoid from fading super fast you can limit your showers, shower in cooler water and limit heat styling! Also find a colour protecting shampoo :)

Yes they will eventually fade because that's what any dye does... However since you have dark hair is go with a very deep purple then it will fade to a slightly lighter color. I even had a friend get hers fade to a lavender and she had deep brown hair... Also, if you want to keep it from fading fast you have to get a bit gross XD take less showers... Well wash your hair less. Wear a shower cap so you can wash but don't wash your hair. When you do wash your hair use a color protectant shampoo and wash in cold water! Also try not to use a lot of heat on the color. Try to pass a flat iron through once instead if the two or three times you might on the other parts of your hair...you can always touch up the color or re-dye once it starts fading! Hope that all made sense and helped! Lol.

I have medium brown hair and I got red put in and I swear it was almost gone immediately. in less than a week you can barely tell I dyed my hair red so its a huge waste of money and I'm really disappointed. I think purple would be the way to go

Thank you so much everyone! you all were a big help. I guess I'll go with purple since red would require constant upkeep. thank you :)
