You can pretty much start out using any brand but quality brushes are key. I started out using a BH 120 color palette.

I hear really good stories about Morphe brushes and eyeshadows, the shadows are supposed to be very much like MAC and 10 times cheaper!

Okay so you're definitely going to need a few palettes!! It takes a long time to build your kit because its hard to just go out and blow 1000 for a day but I would definitely start with palettes. Ill tell you a couple things I keep in my kit that I use almost every time I have appointments...
Urban decay naked palettes.
Sleek eye shadow palettes (soooo affordable and so high in quality)
As far as Mac shadows I can tell you some of the basic ones to get; cork, blanc type, brun, all that glitters, black tied, carbon, satin taupe, retrospeck, woodwinked, mulch, the list goes on.
I would get some lip palettes, I have some awesome ones from Mac Pro.
I'm not that impressed with coastal scents and bh, the quality isn't the best but I do have a blush palette from coastal scents and it gets the job done and it's also very cheap.
Cargo, Mac and nars make some amazing blushes.
I'd also get a few concealer palettes, I like the Mac Pro concealer palettes.
And lastly you're going to need a foundation palette. Bobbi brown makes a really nice one :)
