Translucent powder is good for controlling oil. Also, try using oil blotting paper before applying makeup, carry some around with you if your face gets oily again during the day :)

Definitely blotting paper, like Zoe said. I have horribly oily skin as well, and I use my own Nectar Skincare Day Elixir Light moisturizer to keep the slick under control. It has seaweed extract and chlorophyll to keep oil levels down and isn't greasy at all. After moisturizing, I put on gel-based foundation, set with powder, and then set again with a mist of Mario Badescu's Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rose. If I do get oily, it'll look like a nice glow and not a full on oil spill.

Clinique dramatically different moisturizer, Sephora's Anti-Shine primer, and blotting sheets are what I user everyday to keep the shine away, and it works!

Makeup Forever's All Mat, or Givenchy's Mister Mat primers are REALLY mattifying right away AND long-term throughout the day (I'm a poet!). Makeup Forever's HD powder is an amazing mattifying setting powder as well... My best advice for super oily skin, though... Hydrate. The more dehydrated your skin is of water, the more oil your body produces in order to make up for it. Use a night cream that actually absorbs into your skin (Korres' Quercetin & Oak is a good one), and you'll notice a HUGE decrease in oil production in about 2 months.
