My skin tone is very uneven from acne and a peel gone wrong (not done by me). I have the hardest time finding a foundation and concealer that matches my very yellow undertone skin without looking ashy or even staying put, as well as it not making me breakout. I usually go for "oil free" and double check the ingredients. I just purchased "cinema secrets" but the color match seems a little dark and they dont do exchanges or refunds =(
I have tried bobbi brown, nars, loreal, revlon, makeup forever, cover fx, well everything at sephora and i stay away from mac because their ingredients cause major breakouts. Am I missing one, anyone else have this problem?lol

Which Makeup Forever foundation & color did you try?

Laura Mercier : ) I have just purchased the cream smooth foundation and it is such a good product that I don't need a consealer. Try getting a sample and try it out : ) there is also a oil free foundation in her line that you should sample : )

Having the same problem! I used to use MAC studio fix, I've been using Maybelline FIT me powder 355 as foundation becus I havent found a good concealer to cover up the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. I have oily skin & very acne prone but I love my liquid foundation! Someone told me to try Revlon Color Stay, hmmmm...what do you beauties think?

right! I have tried revlon colorstay but the smell is terrible and not enough coverage. I havnt found a good shade either, caramel is too dark and toast, hmm maybe i need to try toast..

@Jena I break out a bit due to changes after baby but not acne really. Why do you ask? I truly believe it will work for you love!

Mac breaks me out

Do you use only liquid foundations? If so you might want to go with a pressed powder to see if changes the reaction of your skin. You might be very sensitive to the chemicals in liquid foundations.

If you're looking for a concealer - I HIGHLY recommend Tarte's new Maracuja Concealers - they're very yellow based, and pigmented. Remember to bump yourself up one shade though... I'm an NC30 and their med. shade is a tad light... [think Kim Kardashian and the highlighted under eye look] - so I'm def. purchasing the Tan one.

I love it MUCH more than MUFE, Bobby Brown, Cargo... etc.

MAC products break me out too... and I find it hard to find products that don't react, but I've been loving Tarte's line along with my MUFE HD foundation.

Not sure how dark the pigmentation is or not, but dark discoloration can be hard to conceal as it normally will pull ashy. To really conceal the spots you made need a color corrector

which color corrector?

well, really take a look at the pigmentation and try to determine what color it is. I know that it probably just looks dark, but try to figure out what sort of undertone it has to it. My best guess is that it's probably bluish. If it's blue, you are going to want either a salmon or an orange corrector. If you're looking for inexpensive choices I know that yaby or coastal scents make correctors. More on the expensive side, MAC makes an orange corrector (it's a pro item) and make up for ever makes a palette that comes with an orange. Even if you decide that it isn't blue but more so another color, there are all different colored correctors. It may help to take a look at a color wheel. Colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel will cancel each other out. Ex. green cancels out red, orange cancels out blue...etc. If the spots are on the lighter side you may benefit from mixing some corrector in with your normal concealer to try to neutralize the color. Or, if they are darker you may just want to apply the corrector straight to the pigmentation. If you do this, you want to be sure to keep it ONLY on the discoloration and then you will have to go over with a concealer that matches your skin tone.
It's all going to be a matter of color theory, which means that you may have to play around with different colors until you find what is going to work specifically for you and your skin.
