I want to apply for MAC, I have my resume written up, and I have a small portfolio but it really only has about 3 maybe 4 good pictures, other than pictures of my own makeup. Do I really need a portfolio to apply for MAC with a good chance of getting hired? Should I wait to build up my portfolio a little more? I am really needing a job and I would really like one using what I went to school for and love doing. I keep asking my friends to let me do their makeup but they keep giving me the run around. This post is kind of all over the place... haha

I'm pretty sure you don't need a portfolio to apply to MAC. Make up application tests are part of the application process.
http://www.specktra.net/forum/thread/111946/mac-uk-interview-process-demos - this is an interesting post about the interview process in the UK, I can't imagine it's too different from country to country.
Good luck!

If you get an interview, they're going to ask you specific questions, like...
What is the opposite color of blue on the color wheel?
How would you describe to a client how to apply false eyelashes?
What tool is best for applying creams and liquids?
What inspires you?
Take a look at the MAC website's tutorials, espesh for the eyelashes. They'll really help.
If you're called back for a second interview, you'll have to do a timed makeup application with their stash. Get a model lined up before the first interview so that when you're called back for the second, you're prepared.
If you interview *with* MAC at one of their corporate offices, show up 15 minutes early, they love that.
Your own makeup that day should reflect the MAC philosophy.
If I can think of anything I remember from my own interviews, I'll let you know...and good luck!
