Only thing I won't spend a lot of money on, is eyeliner. I only wear a medium brown eyeliner, and the $25.00 Lancome Pencil I have works just as great as my $6.00 Maybelline Line Express, er vice versa. Everything else I can justify spending a lot on.

I tend to buy a good mix of drugstore and high end stuff, but I can't bring myself to buy super expensive Mascaras. I really want to try the Benefit They're Real that everyone keeps raving about, but every time I go to Sephora or Ulta and go to grab the box, I flinch at the $22 price tag.
I have also wanted to buy some NARS shadows but $23 for a single color kills me. I finally bought one of their duos and a single shadow recently because of the Friends and Family sale last month. Otherwise I would never have splurged on them.
I wouldn't buy expensive lashes either or a highlighter/brightener. I never use either one.

@ Lorena I agree. I've wanted to try the Benefit mascara but I can't even make myself put it in my shopping cart when I shop online. Especially when there are so many good drug store mascaras that you can get for less than $10.

High end mascaras and eyeliners. They all work the same, it only matters of how you're applying it ..

i have to say, there is always exceptions to the rule. I'm always willing to splurge, with justification, on any given makeup item. I've come to realize there are some things I settle for, but I wouldn't bother with if given the choice for the high end version.
I would not splurge on: Brow gel ( clear mascara), brow powder (eyeshadow), mascara, lip balm (any chapsticl/vaseline), lipstick, lip liner, body lotion, m/u remover, m/u remover wipes ( you can squirt liquid m/u remover into a pack of baby wipes for a fraction of the cost and a more softer/thicker wipe), sponges ( i have sold high-end sponges.), glitter adhesive (lash glue), highlighter ( you can use any shimmery eyeshadow as a highlighter), nail polish (above $9), lashes (i go through many and reuse them wisely), high-end bags/accessories.
I will splurge on: Brushes, Foundations, concealers, primers (lash, eye, face), face powder, blush, bronzer, certain glosses/lipsticks, eyeliners (pencil and cream), eyeshadow, hair products/tools, skincare, shoes.

As far as products.. Foundation. I've used MAC, Smashbox, etc.. and I always go back to L'Oreal. Same with mascara. L'Oreal. As far as maintenance things, I cut and color my own hair. Just paid attention to the last time I got my hair done and now I do it myself. Mancures. I do my own. I will get a pedi every now and again in the summer.

I will never spend more than $0.99 on black pencil eyeliner. I've been using NYC eyeliner since I was 13 and it has never failed me. I know it's not superior quality but when I'm just lining my eyes I don't really care.
BUT if I'm specifically going to do a cateye look, then i use liquid or cream/gel liners. now those I will splurge on!

Mascara is something i will probably never spruge on since its replaced most frequently. MAC and Urban Decay are the pricest makeup lines in my collection so their price ranges are pretty much my limit.
I do want to try the new blush palette from NARS because it is a STEAL compared to their regular prices.
