I've only done it once, and I used all Sinful Colors and they worked wonderfully!

Thanx ladies, I will definitely give it a go

actually, I've tried most of the brands that I have and 90% of them work... just be sure they're not all glittery or very sheer. It all really comes down to the type and not really the brand. Drop a little bit in a bowl of water and if it drops straight to the bottom it probably doesn't work. Also, make sure to have a base color!

I must have done something wrong. I tried to do this two times using different kinds of polish and different temps of water... Both times I just made a huge mess and it did not work at all... haha Good luck!

rynae - ahhh, happens to me all the time too! be sure to clean off the nail polish left up on the water and not on your finger or nail before you lift your finger up! that's how i fixed mine. :) also, i always forget to, but always prep your finger with tape. makes your life SO MUCH EASIER!

Kat: all of my xtreme wear ones work. :) the only ones that will not work are the fast dry because they really do dry super fast!

I couldn't get it to work using xtreme wear, AT ALL! But the problem was the glitter/shimmer polishes I was adding. Next time I will have to use solid colors. I just gave up last time because I made a huge mess and it looked like a kindergarten threw up on my hands.

OPI works the best in my opinion

OPI has worked the best for me so far! but I've also tried cheap polishes like from target or a chemist, and found that pretty much all of those no name brands work well for marbelling!

I use wet n wild because they're so cheap and water marbling uses a lot of polish! They have worked really well! I've tried sinful colors too but they sink down on me.

I like using thinner formulas-- Sinful Colors, Essie, and China Glaze are the 3 that work best for me. If you're having trouble with your drops just sinking rather than spreading, try using less polish. OPI and Nails Inc work well also. It's really a trial and error thing but once you figure out the best method for you, it's a great and fun nail art that's actually pretty easy.
