I am on this fanatical hunt for THE BEST waterproof liquid eyeliner. I want it to come in the deepest black possible as well as other fabulous colors. One brand doesn't have to offer both the best black and best colored liner; one brand for black and one for different colors works, too. Any suggestions for ones that you have personally tried?

My holy grail isn't waterproof but I never have any issues with smudging. It doesn't have the plasticy feeling of waterproof liners. It's the Le Metier de Beaute Precision Liquid liner in noir. For fun waterproof ones I'm really liking the new ones from Make Up For Ever and Stila! Great fun colours (and black of course)!

Make Up For Ever is my theme of the day apparently haha. I've been look at them a lot, but then I saw a review on the MUFE black and after it was swatched and quickly run under water it faded a bit compared to the others. I was sad, but maybe it's a fluke that one time? Note to self, continue searching out similar reviews where it's been tested for waterproof-ed-ness. The one reason I try to always wear waterproof mascara and liner is because up here in crazy-fickle New England it's sunny one moment then hailing the next haha. Gotta weather proof EVERYTHING! ;)

My fav black liquid is Kat Von D in Puro Amor, but its not waterproof. I have pretty good results sometimes with MAC Penultimate liquid liner, but again, not waterproof (and not super black either, takes like three coats to get it good and dark). My go-to waterproof liner is Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner pencil. Its really soft, so you get a good dark line and its easy to control since its a pencil. I went swimming with it and it stayed put for a good 6 hours.
On another note, the best waterproof mascara I've tried is Maybelline Lash Stiletto, but that might be because I HATE waterproof mascara (sooo hard to get off!) and only wanted a drug store brand for swimming purposes.

@Ellen I had really bad luck with Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara. I like Flasies waterproof, NYX Doll Eye waterproof (and non-waterproof with a waterproof placed over it), and a long list of other mascaras, but that's one of my other continual "holy grail hunts" haha. I'm actually doing a review on Benefit They're Real mascara soon. Tried it twice, giving it one more go before I make my conclusion.

My fav for basic black and brown is Studio Gear cake eyeliner. It might not technically count as a liquid, but it's liquid when you apply it. If you use a waterproof mixing medium it becomes a waterproof liner. For colors, I love Urban Decay liquid liner. It's a tad pricey, but it lasts all day, and the brush applicator is my favorite ever. And all of the colors are fabulous.
I'm interested to hear what you think of Benefit's They're Real Mascara. Everything I'm hearing makes it seem like Lash Blast, and I hate Lash Blast.

I used to use liquid liner but I bought Clinique Cream Liner (in black) and I am a convert! It's waterproof and has incredible wear time. I am wearing it in my profile picture and you can definitely see it!

my holy grail liquid eyeliner is 'loreal's linear intense carbon black' it has a felt tip applicator which makes it very easy to apply any sort to eyeliner style desired. It also stays well... it stays especially well if you press a matte black eyeshadow on top of it if you are going to be out and about all day!

Kat Von D liquid liner is my favorite, I find it's incredibly easy to apply. I have pretty shaky hands and I can get a perfect line with it, also I find it's extremely water proof.

Thanks ladies! It's funny, I feel like part of whether something hits "holy grail status" is partially a personal thing. I see some people adore a product, then I try it and go--what the heck--and vice versa. But there are those occasional products that are unanimously amaaaazing!
@Anna W I'll hopefully have time to do my review on Benefit They're Real mascara tonight!
@Mandy I've heard the same thing about the UD waterproof 24/7 liquid liners from other people too! I think the only reason I've hesitated is that I've hated the last few other liners I bought from them this year Haha. I'm debating on a few, I was just waiting to see if any of them made it onto this post and so far no! Interesting!

I personally really like Kat Von D's Tattoo Eyeliner, so far it's been working great for me and I've been through my fair share of liquid liner. We'll see though on how long it lasts as a product.

Maybelline LineStiletto Liquid Liner is amazing, I am horribly clumsy at doing my top liner and with this it looksso straight and perfect AND it can be super thin or super thick (:

The only one I've ever used is the Wet n Wild one. I'm a beginner with liquid eyeliner, I've always been too scared to use it! I decided to pick one up though to play around with and I must say that this Wet N Wild one has treated me well. It's easy to use, it's dark, lasts a while, and doesn't smudge everywhere on me. I probably won't be purchasing any other kind of liquid eyeliner because if you can find a good cheap one then why change?

Milani Liquif Eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil... I was on the same search you were on and have tried everything but this is my personal favorite! It is a dark black color and it lasts all day on my without smudging or smearing.

i just got it like a week ago but i've really been loving mark's what a line felt tip eyeliner in brownie points. it hasn't smudge or flaked on me and i have oily skin/eyelids :) i wanna grab it in black next! but the brown is really nice

I prefer a brush with my liquid liner instead of the marker tips. NYC Liquid Liner is my favorite. A trick to make liquid liner even more intense is to first line the eyes with a pencil eyeliner and then go over that with your liquid.
