So, this may or may not be a very strange question, but Whenever I've painted my nails lately, within 24 hours, my nail polish seems to fall off, in nail form. Leaving no residue. Does anyone know what causes this, and does anyone else deal with it?

It could be that you need to replace your topcoat... sometimes, when they start to get older, the shrinkage is pretty significant and it causes the fresh coat of paint to peel off. I experience this when I need to toss out my Seche Vite and get a new one.

Have you buffed your nails recently? I've seen where people buff their nails down so much that the polish slips off in a huge nail-shaped chunk.

I have the same issue too. I've tried different base coats and top coats. I've made sure there is nothing on them and I never really buff. No matter what my polish peels off by the end of the next day. It doesn't matter what polish I try, it just peels off!

I agree with Jennifer. Before I apply polish, I ALWAYS, wash my hands with soap, and scrub my nails with a nail brush, then dry them off super well, then wait 5 minutes before applying my base coat. My polish stays on forever, unless of course I'm wearing a glitter.

1. Make sure your nails are clear of any residue, dirt, oils, soap, etc.
2. Always use a base coat, if the base coat your using is old try and get a new one. It doesn't have to be anything expensive, as long as it protects your nails.
3. Make sure the polish your using isn't old too,(if there's bubbles in the polish, either add some nail polish thinner or dont use it). Use 3 long even strokes when applying your polish. You dont have to wait until the first coat is completly dry but give it at least 60 seconds, then apply the second coat.
3. Give your nails a good 5 minutes to dry completely.
4. My nails never ever chip and i really think its because of the top coats I use. The first one I use is Sally Hansen's Anti Chip Dry Fast Top Coat. You can find this in any drugstore. Then I always apply a coat of Seche Vites dry fast top coat.
Your nail polish should not be falling off like that. It has to be either the lack of base coat or top coat or the quality of the polish or it might be old.

I'll have to try that Sally Hansen top coat and invest in a nail brush.
When I use Seche Vite, even with a good base coat and sometime with another type of Sally Hansen top coat, it peels off within hours.
This is driving me insane. I'll have to try cleaning my nails off better before applying the base coat. I usually already clean them quite well.
I'm getting to the point where I'm going to stop buying and using polish! It's a waste of time and money!

The only time I've had this problem is when I use base coat... (I know, I know, you're always supposed to use it. But I just don't get the point. That's probably why my nails are so terrible!) I think it's also that I use thick coats. If I do it thinner, it doesn't do that. I don't take such great care of my nails, but I know I should. :P I just don't think there's anywere in my town were I can buy Nail Tek or Nail Envy... >.< Small town and all.
