Urban Decay: Naked 2 vs 15th Anniversary

Are you still on the fence whether or not to get Urban Decay's 15th Anniversary or NAKED2? I know there's talk on the 'net about how Urban Decay's Anniversary is better to get than NAKED2 but I completely disagree and here's why.

NAKED2
Price: $50
Comes with dual-end shadow brush & mini lip gloss.
Fill Weight: Eyeshadow: 12 x 1.3g e 12 x 0.05 US oz, Lip Junkie: 3.23ml e 0.11 US fl oz

Each individual shadows in the palette has a fill weight of 1.5g e 0.05 US oz per shadow. The individuals cost $17 each and out of 12 shadows only three (Half Baked, Chopper & YDK) are part of the current main line the rest could only be found in limited edition palettes.

12 shadows x $17 = $204. That's a $154 savings on the shadows alone.

The normal Good Karma shadow brush and crease brush are both at $26 which means the dual brush has a value of around $52 if you bought the individual brushes separately. That alone is the price of NAKED2. Add in the fact that you get a Lip Junkie mini 3.23ml e 0.11 US fl oz which the normal size retails for $19 (10ml e 0.34 US fl oz) which makes it roughly a $6 product IF it sold as a mini. Altogether it's almost worth $263, give or take.

If you count JUST the shadows and exclude the dual-end brush and the lip gloss the palette itself would probably sell for around $18 if you count the brush as only one ($26) and the lip gloss ($6).

$18 ÷ 12 = $1.50 per shadow.


15th Anniversary
Price: $55

All the colors in 15th Anniversary are new and are not sold individually however for argument sake IF these were sold individually they would retail for $17 as do the other shadows.

Fill Weight: 15 x 1.3g e 15 x 0.05 US oz

$55 ÷ 15 = $3.67 per shadow (rounded up from $3.666666666666667)

So which is the better deal? In my opinion NAKED2 is the better deal if you compare JUST the prices of the shadows. The colors in both palettes are 1.3g e 0.05 US oz and while you do get three more shadows in Anniversary as well as a variety of colors the fact is with NAKED2 you get a dual-end brush and the lip gloss for $5 less than Anniversary. So if you're on the fence on which to get I would get NAKED2 as it's more versatile if you're a more neutral type of girl. Now if you're more into bold colors than I would suggest getting Anniversary simply because that is a limited edition palette while NAKED2 will be part of the permanent collection.

Me, I got NAKED2 before Anniversary and it's still on my wish list but I wear more neutral colors than bold colors.
