So I'm trying to get a seasonal job at Sephora. I'm 19 years old and I've NEVER had a job before (I know I'm horrible), but I've had plenty of volunteering experience where I've had to deal with people. Is there anyone in beautylish land that works at Sephora or has worked there in the past that can give me some advice and tell me about the application process?? Please let me know thaaaanks!!! :D

Hi Dee I was in the same position as you a few months ago. Except I was (still am) 18 haha and I am currently working seasonal with Sephora.

I got some great help from others here on Beautylish here is a link to the thread
http://www.beautylish.com/t/vrymg/working-for-sephora

In my experience here is how things went down haha
- Went to Sephora asked for an application filled it out at the Food Court returned it same day (tip: ask to see manager hand them application shake hands and say you look forward to hearing from them soon)
- Got called scheduled a group interview. Dress like you have the job wear all black and wear a statement lip. Something to help them remember you in a good way.
- Sit up front during the interview
-Answer ALL the questions they ask you (never say 'same' as the other girls)
-Make eye contact
-STRESS the Customer Experience and tie in whatever background you have in helping people
-Then they call you again (if you passed that round haha) for a one on one interview
- Same be confident, professional, eye contact. And stress customer satisfaction, personalized experience for them, making them happy etc
- Final round they take you into the back do some role playing like (complete this fake transaction/return/whats wrong with this shelf how would you fix it etc)
- Get called in to Sephora Orientation (more on that here http://www.beautylish.com/t/visxr/orientation-for-sephora)
- Begin work :D

Thank you sooo much!!! This was tons of help!!! :D

Do have to have counter experience of Makeup artist training to obtain a counter job? I would love Sephora to be my second job! Or Mac or any cosmetics counter really!

I've been working for a couple of weeks for Sephora, and let me tell you, it can be hard work, but it's totally fun. At my store, the people are super-friendly and I'm really enjoying myself, but you can find yourself with super-long shifts (8 hours or so?), on your feet constantly, and having to stay "on" all the time. You have to always have a super-positive attitude, the "look" they want (clean, pressed, neat hair, good makeup, etc), a desire to make the customer happy, and a willingness to do anything you're asked. It can be hard work, but I think it's worth it.

One more thing, I have a feeling that at most stores, they have all the help they need right now for Seasonal. Just a guess. It can't hurt to walk in and ask for an application. Make sure that when you do, you have a copy of your resume, you're dressed appropriately and with good makeup, and that you fill it out and return it THAT DAY (preferably within an hour - it's a short application). Have a good attitude, a willingness to do ANYthing, a desire to learn and an attitude of humility and you'll be fine. GL!!

@LeeAnn you dont have to have counter expierence to work at sephora they are really looking for the customer service side of things...they want people that can provide a great expierence for the customer the entire time they are in the store as well as after they leave the store. I do know that for mac freelance work you have to be able to do makeup. Not necessarily counter expierence but makeup expierence they do not offer training for freelance work. As for regular sales people at mac they are looking for people that can sell product so im sure counter expierence wouldnt hurt.

@Jasmine k thank you!!! =D

I've actually asked what they look for at a MAC counter and at the one where I live they said that they prefer you have some experience at a Sephora or another counter before you go there.

yayyyyy for working at sephora! =D I've been there a year, I was seasonal last year and had never had any retail experience when they hired me.
Being seasonal means that you will be cashwrap/greeter, and they are really just looking for somebody who is friendly, helpful, and has great customer service skills.
good luck!

I really want to work at Sephora!!! <3 I would looove it!

I used to work there Sephora and it's just like another retail job. I only see them look for seasonal people during the holiday season though.
