When you have more than one client, do you clean your brushes in between clients? If so, how do you get the brushes dry enough to use again right away for the next person? Do you recommend any special sanitizing product?

I like to get disposable brushes from like target that cost a dollar each. I never use personal brushes on other people
When i say disposable i mean they are so cheap i dont mind tossing them

My MAC brush cleaner dries fast, but I usually have backups of the same brush shape to rotate in and out to give others sufficient drying time between clients if they're super dense (like face brushes)

There is nothing worse than using a still wet brush on a client that watched you use it on a previous client. Although cleaned, it still grosses people out. =]

I'm not a MUA, but if I was, I'd probably have multiples of the same brushes and/or similar brushes so I'm not using the same one on different people

Isopropyl Alcohol A.K.A Rubbing alcohol, 70% or higher it disinfects and drys 60 seconds to 5 minuets depending on how big or dense the brush is.

Thanks everyone! Seems like multiple brushes and a good cleaner with a bit of alcohol will be the best bet!

I use alcohol on counter, it kills all bacteria and dries really quickly and doesn't ruin brushes.

Wow, Jordan, that was very informative. I currently am using baby shampoo for my brushes because I was told that was gentle enough. I guess I will try the color treated kind instead.
Excited that I can make a super cheap brush cleaner too with the water and alcohol.
Thanks!

Instead of going through all the work of shampooing and conditioning your brushes everyday to keep them clean. You can use BeautySoClean Conditioning Brush Cleanser. It is effective on all cosmetic brushes. It also wont cause any irritation on the skin because it Dermatology Tested. Its very quick and simple to use.

You spray the brushes until they are saturated and then you use a paper towel to remove the cosmetic residue. Its great to use especially if you have a line up of clients waiting to do their makeup.

I had to do makeup for the Santa Claus Parade and there was so many people's makeup that had to be done. With so many people I didn't have time to thoroughtly clean my brushes. However simply spraying the BeautySoClean brush conditioning cleaner it really helped me to work faster and complete a lot of people makeup.
Alcohol slowly eats away at your brushes causing them to lose their shine and begin to shed. Alcohol should more be used on mixing palettes and eyelash curlers.

BeautySoClean also has other great ways to keep not only your brushes but your products clean. There's the Cosmetic Sanitizer wipes great for lipsticks and mascara wands. Also the BeautySoClean Cosmetic Sanitizer Mist which removes 100% of bacteria by just spraying once on your powder based cosmetics.

I hope that helps!

Yes I read you comment. Obviously you're not going to soak your brushes in between clients.Simply spray it on the brush and and use paper towel to take off the residue. In my opinion using a brusher cleanser helps keep my brushes look and feel soft. I was taught that. I like BeautySoClean. Its what I use and many others too. That's just my opinion.

I've used QUO brush cleanser. It has alcohol in it so it makes the brushes dry really fast so you can move onto your next client. At the moment though, I've been using the royal langnickel one and it smells like vanilla cupcakes! Haha :)

Goodness. I had no idea that this topic would spark a debate. Thanks Jordan for shedding some light on this for us. I do not want to shell out a bunch of money for something I can make super cheap at home!

The antibacterial brush spray by sephora is wonderful! You still have to shampoo them once a week, but this is great for spot cleaning! It is antibacterial so it also takes care of the germs when using brushes on different clients =]

To be honest I have never used a brand 'brush cleaner' in my life. When I'm washing my brushes at home when I have enough time to let them dry I use washing up liquid mixed with a TINY bit of oil, and on set when i need them clean ASAP I just use surgical spirit.

I wash my brushes with a mild, cheap shampoo at home, then when they're dried I dip them in 70 percent alcohol, with clients I'd use disposables if there was a visible contraindication, if not i'd wipe the brushes with baby wipes and rinse if possible and then dip in the alcohol again. You should always use 70 percent alcohol spray!!
