I'm looking for a foundation no more than $40 that will give me a dewy complexion, good coverage and that doesn't cake up. Any reccomendations ? Personally id prefer finding a good drugstore one that's affordable. I'm a bit on the darker side (Native American). I'm not picky but need help :D Thanks !

For dewy complexions I really like NARS Sheer Glow foundation, MAC Studio Tech, MAC Mineralize Foundation SPF 15 and Bobby Brown's Foundation Stick. If you have any issues with breaking out, I would stick to the NARS Sheer Glow. I am not sure why it's called Sheer when it's really a medium coverage foundation.

I am also Native American and I have a super hard time finding drug store foundations to suit my medium olive tone. I haven't been able to find one (or a combination) to match me

I've been using Maybelline's Dream Smooth Mousse for the past few weeks and absolutely love it. It gives a very dewy finish and has great coverage. Its best for skin that isn't oily, since the finish is so dewy...if you have dry skin it would be perfect. I think its only around $8-$9 so its worth a shot :) The only problem I have with it was that it was difficult to find my correct shade..I had to return a couple shades before finding mine.

Yeah, lol I've tried a few of MAC's the StudioFix Fluid, and Studio Sculpt. Also, Lancomes Teint Idole Ultra Foundation, but found that they seemed not the right fit.

I broke out from MAC though.

I've always wanted to try NARS, and it sounds great, especially cause I want it to cover up enough, but not look cakey.

Awh, you are :) That's cool, yeah its hard finding the perfect drugstore one, I used to use Revlon PhotoReady but the shades are too dark and its just annoying :/

Lol, that's what I'm really worried about. Finding a foundation with good coverage, but looks dewy not matte. How do you apply it ?

I have the same problem with PhotoReady, one is too dark and orange and the other is light and pink. Studio Fix Fluid is very matte and Studio Sculpt is okay, but I find it TOO dewy if that makes any sense (and I don't like the smell). :D

I always apply my foundations with my Sigma F80 brush because I find that it's easier to control the application without streaks.

Yup exactly. Haha, yeah I think I have a big problem with smell of MAC foundations I've used :)

Really ? I'm looking for brushes to start my collection. And looking for a foundation brush that works. At an affordable price.

@Melanie Is there a wide variety of shades in Dream Smooth Mousse ? I know it's like a creamy texture correct ?

@Alyssa - I use the Sigma F82 (the round kabuki) and just kind of stipple it on and blend a little. I think the F80 would work great as well. The Sigma brushes are great!

@Melanie I've heard a lot about their brushes, are they affordable ?

@Alyssa - whoops sry I forgot to answer your second post! Yea, its a really creamy texture. There are a good amount of shades available but not a whole lot...you might have to buy a couple to see which color would match your skin the best. My problem was that I couldn't find a shade that wasn't too dark, so if your skintone is darker than mine you might not have an issue. The "natural beige" shade seems to be the most popular, so maybe give that one a try first.

As for the brushes, they are about $16/ea (at least for their Sigmax line)...so not super cheap but they're probably the best brushes I've used. Their website lists prices for all their brushes: http://www.sigmamakeup.com :)

@Melanie Hm, yeah I'm more tan. So hopefully i'd be able to find one. And you said the coverage was good ?

Well the only other brushes I had were MAC and if there comparable or better, they should be worth it :) Lol, as long as I gradually build up my collection slowly it won't be much

I love the texture of the Dream Smooth Mousse, but I wasn't able to find a match for it, everything was too pink. I am an NC40/C40 at MAC.

@Alyssa I'd say it has a medium coverage...so not completely full coverage but more than a light coverage foundation.

If you're looking to buy more than one brush from Sigma, I would look through their website to see if you can find any deals. I was able to get two brushes (the F82 and F84) for $24 from their "deals" page which was awesome.

Unfortunately, I found all the darker colours to be too pink. Let me know how it works out though! :)

The Neutrogena Healthy Skin is a drugstore foundation that gives me very similar results to the Nars Sheer Glow. It has a very dewy finish and on me at least it lasts all day. I love it.

I'm not sure if they have a shade that would suit you, but if they do, it's a great foundation at a great price.

@Girlie Really ? I should check it out. Lol I don't have oily skin, so most foundations last all day and me. Thanks :) Lol, I followed your blog, Follow mines at alyssasantarosa.blogspot.com

I have heard great things about the Neutrogena Healthy skin foundation, although I haven't tried it myself, there are a ton of people out there who swear it's the perfect dupe for NARS Sheer Glow. I absolutely love the NARS. I have combination skin and it doesn't break me out or dry me up. It's pricier but it's been worth every penny for me and I love that the ladies at Sephora were able to help me find the right shade.

I think I might give it a try, isn't that the foundation that helps clear skin as well ? Haha, I'm on a major hunt for this foundation. If I can save money even better, but I need it lol. I stopped by the cosmetics counters in Macy's at MAC, Lancome, Benefit, and UD got some samples seeing what works good. :D Also, CONCEALERS for small blemishes, let me know of any. Thanks, girls your soo mch help :D

If you want an AMAZING foundation for cheap, go to cvs and pick up the Covergirl Natreluxe foundation. Works better than any high end foundation I have ever tried. A great concealer that is high end is by benefit and it is the boing concealer. great for small blemishes and redness!

i happen to LOVE the covergirl natureluxe foundation... it works beautifully... or use tinted moisturizer, you can build it up if its too light, or keep a nice fresh even look. i love the jouer luminizing moisture tint
