Could the underactive thyroid come from too little iodine in your diet?

Hi, I also have an underactive thyroid and diagnosed a couple of months ago but I haven't noticed my hair falling out yet, what medication are you taking? as I'm on Levothyroxine and I know hair loss is a side effect x

I have an underachieve thyroid. My hair was falling out. (hense all the hats I wear) If the doc put you on meds..it should thicken up and come back. I went to a naturopath and got on nature-throid. I've been taking MSM and eating red meat. Hair is protein...my naturopath and another nutritionist practically insisted on it...so out went my vegetarianism too. I was not getting enough protein they said. I also take Silica (horsetail)...and before that was on NuHair...it stops the THC (testosterone that makes your hair fall out)...it works. It's gonna take time...but will come back. Experiment and ask a naturopath. They have all sorts of solutions. I also bought Eating for Beauty by David Wolfe. It's a great resource..and it's all about eating raw veggies and vegetarianism. If you ever need to contact me. I'd be happy to support. I freaked out when I started losing my hair. It was a horrible experience...it's finally coming back. I'm also taking vitamins for hair that include Biotin and zinc and such...also pre-natals. Take care xo :-)
