For me, I typically wear bright, bold colors or no makeup at all. I'm 15 (in april) and I have been told that I wear too much makeup for my age. But to be honest, it's your body and you can do what ever you want. No one has the right to tell you what to wear, and chances are you actually aren't wearing a lot of makeup. People tend to confuse bright makeup with a lot of makeup. Even when girls just wear black eyeliner and get criticized, they technically aren't wearing a lot. A lot would be caking your foundation. Next time someone says you are wearing too much makeup just ignore it. Good luck! :)

This has never happened to me until last weekend. My drunkish friend told me that I'm too beautiful to wear so much makeup..and I was confused because I really don't wear THAT much, just mac mineralize nsf, concealer and eye makeup....maybe a little bit of blush. it just made me question whether the mac stuff im using as foundation is cakey LOL but if I got it more often, I would seriously try to take a good hard look at myself in the mirror because good makeup should be flawless/not completely noticeable (as far as foundation goes..'cake face')

Wear that much its probably because they wore none!

I don't get that comment anymore but I did all the time in high school. I was too shy to say anything but if it were now I would simply say "thanks for your opinion but I like how it looks on me. It is fun to try new looks" :) in high school people wore no makeup, spirit shirts, birdsnest looking buns, and tennis shoes every day. They would say I wore too much and called me cake face! I didn't even we

I would say & agree with the following two responses:
1)Bianca I. --- "You don't wear enough..."
2)Mandy K.--"I like to wear natural makeup too, but sometimes I'm just in the mood to try and be a little more creative and play with bolder colors. I'm having a lot of fun!"

my response would probably be something as simple as "ok" basically in a non chalant tone of "thanks for sharing...I don't care that you said that." Because JUST like Valentina said earlier "be proud of who you are, as long as you're confident about it you can pull it off!"

I never had anyone to say that to me but my Mom did tell me once that I put on too much lipstick. I ignored her. She started wearing lipstick more often, the same colors as mine. I think that sometimes when people make comments like that it may be becausethey are not as daring as you. I think a lot of women want to experiment with makeup and fashion but they don't because of fear of what others might think.

I tend to just smile and walk away, or politely say "I like to be different and stand out" always remember, if it your face and your way of being different and showing your creativity, don't let others bring you down or make you feel like you are wearing to much!! I love makeup and I wear BRIGHT & CRAZY looks daily, something different every day :P

I would say "eff off". is that mean? so is talking crap about my look. the way I see it is I enjoy makeup. I don't wear it for anyone. I am not afraid to go out in public without it.....its just FUN.....leave me alone about it :P

You shouldn't care what anyone else says, today I wore my 4.5" heels to school just for fun. Yes, people looked at me odd. But I always like changing things up, including my make up. Sometime's I'd go out with crazy eyes, or no-makeup makeup. But to whoever said that too you, or to anyone, I think you should say "Okay." It's their opinion, and it's not worth wasting your time trying to change it. Just be proud of who you are, as long as you're confident about it you can pull it off! (:

I actually have never had anyone say that too me probably because they know i would have some smart comment to make. If anything i get compliments when i wear something bold i would tell them that its not their face and they shouldnt worry about what i put on mine.

honestly when someone says that to me and they're saying it in a rude way like "wow you wear too much makeup" I simply say "and you don't wear enough" XD but usually I just say something like "ok, thats nice" and then change the subject.

Where do you hear those kinds of things? Shool, at work, church, from your date, at a nightclub?
It would be important to determine in what environment is people daring to say someting so rude, I would try to get constructive criticism, not by asking the person who said that, but to a close friend "why do you think they say I'm wearing too much makeup" and maybe your friend will tell you the bottom line, and you can learn and avoid I don't know, foundation mismatch, too much concealer, smudged eyeliner...

@Krystal-haha that's what I was going to say! Be all bubbly about it too, like "Hey, thanks!!!!!" with a huge sincere smile. Gets 'em every time.

Honestly, its really not anyone's place to judge you how ever you wear your make up...I know I used to get rude comments about how much make up I wear...I would just ignore them...and yep..I would tell them..."well, its not on your face isn't it?"...in a nice but sarcastic kinda way...but as long as you are happy with yourself...what does it matter about someone's remarks...accept yourself first before anyone who's gonna judge you...because like they say..."those who mind don't matter..those who matter don't mind..."..enjoy what you do hun...

What I say to people who say that to me is way too rude to put on Beautylish...lol

But I just many ignore the comments and the next day, come back with something even BRIGHTER and BOLDER than the day before. I've come to realize that unless people are more creative and open-minded in their thinking, then they won't understand. So I just keep doing me and give them even more reason to talk.

It's been a while since I heard that one! Now-a-days the only person who says that is my husband! I got that a lot in high school though. Most girls in my high school showed up in pajama pants and UGGs. I always dressed a little nicer than that and did my makeup. I never even wore a lot, it was just a lot to them because they barely did. When I received those comments I pretty much just brushed it off and told them to mind their business. I never understand the point of making such comment. It doesn't change what I do or who I am :)
