How to get rid of cakey foundation without removing the foundation and makeup?

sheer out the foundation with a damp wedge, it should help a little.
and yeah like Andrew said, fix + is a great way to fix powdery looking skin.

Love the suggestions everyone's leaving, They work for me too. Try buffing the face with a dry dense brush first & if that dsnt work misting the face or brush with something like the Mac's Fix + should help ya out too!

When applying only apply small amounts at a time then add more if needed. Once that is done take 2 ply tissue and remove a layer to 'blot' this can take away access. Also, be careful of the powder, using too much can cause a cake effect.

I usually spray my face with a makeup refreshing spray, and then just sweep a clean synthetic powder brush over it to buff out the remaining. I can't use the wedges because it makes my skin flake = (

cameron do you rub the wedge on ur face?
cuz I dab the damp wedge and it doesn't make me flake

Even dabbing it will lift the dead skin. Im on skin treatments right now, so it lifts up very easily when I use those sponges. Synthetic brushes don't for whatever reason. =)

Imma try that, cuz there are days when I feel like climate and all is against me lol
:p

It works better for me! I do love my good little wedge sponges otherwise though!

what powder do U use? I use BenNye Neutral Set =)

I normally use either Makeup Forever HD, Diorskin Powder, or Maybelline Shine-Free. I just purchased the Rice Powder from Palladio today because of Freddie B, and I love it! I always set my makeup with Mario Badescu Rosewater spray though, and then powder.

I have the palladio poweder thingy too, but I use it as high lighter, is really fine, but I hate the packaging.
I like silica powders, but not on flashing photos, ghost like lookig not a good thing :(

What skincare products are you using? Are you allowing them to dry before applying foundation? I had that same problem. I would slap on my serum, moisturizing sunscreen and then apply my liquid foundation immediately afterwards and be left with a cake face. Best to allow all the skincare products to settle in and then blot skin to pick up excess oil then add foundation. Hope this helps. :)

You could maybe test out a different foundation. Maybe it's just the foundation that's making it cakey because I've had that problem before! Also, a foundation primer or moisturizer should help! :)
