Hi everyone,

I know it's taken me a long time to get on the MAC MSF bandwagon, but I'm currently considering getting one (or two). How do you guys use your MSFs? I know some use it as a light foundation, and some as highlighters or blush. Any other suggestions?

And what's a good shade? Should I get both a Natural one and the shimmery ones? Or would one be enough for now?

Opinions welcome, and thanks!!

natural is good for if you're wanting to set foundation or use it as one, the shimmery are more for highlighing and/or blush depending on the shade. what were you wanting them for?

MSF tend to carry a high sheen or shimmer finish, and so often tend to be used as highlighters. There are occasionally deeper shades that can work as a blush or bronzer, but they also layer well over other cheek colours.

MSF Natural works as a light coverage powder, whether that's to set a liquid/cream or on it's own. Some people will buy them a few shades lighter for a more natural highlight, or darker to contour. I actually use them frequently for a very natural brow bone highlight.

Where there particular colours you were interested in?

I use MSF natural in medium dark as a "winter bronzer" and sometimes as a shadow (looks nice to define the crease). It was one of the first things i ever bought from mac, i was looking for a matte bronzer and that's what the girl who was helping me came up with. I also use soft and gentle as a cheek/brow highlight and sometimes as a shadow when i'm feeling lazy. Basically they're multi-functional, get 2 and play with them, you'll find tons of ways to use them!

I use my natural MSF everyday to set my foundation, and I love it!

And... If I were to recommend a shimmery one it would be 'Soft and Gentle'

Thanks for your responses!! Now I'm even more determined to give the MSF a go. I think I will go for the shimmery range. 'Soft and Gentle' seems like a good pick. :)

Soft & Gentle is beautiful. It's also really pretty when used wet on the eyes.

I actually use the msk as a powder in light- med works fab, and use it over msf face and body foundation, looks super natural and great on cam as well. I LOVE THE MSF Hi-lighters soft and gentle, gives you a very nice sheer glow, and you can always add a matte bronzer to look sunkissed. great for summer...

Soft and Gentle- great choice, I actually use it on my inner-corner for a highlight as well it provides a beautiful color. I also pair it with either Stilla's Kitten Smudge pot or MAC Summerhaze all over the lid!

I have the natural, and I personally don't like it much. It's coverage and lasting power aren't worth $30 and I prefer matte, personally.

I use the MSF Natural in light, it makes my skin look so much more...polished? grown up? finished? i can't really say. it definitely makes it matte, which i love. i use it over MAC's studio moisture tint, also in light, & it's a great combo. soft & gentle is *fab*, so is lightscapade if you can get your hands on it.
