I use a lighter foundation on the high points of my face and then my actual shade on the rest of my face. MAC's Luna cream colour base (pearly white) is a great shade for highlighting... depending on your skin tone though, it could be too light. Another great colour is a really nice peachy tone. Benefit has some amazing highlighters, I have High Beam from them, and I also use Girl Meets Pearl from them! I love them both!
