How Does Your Make-Up Last All Day?

I have a problem! In the morning I have a really nice makeup look. But by the end of the day either my eyeshadow is GONE or my eyliner is smudged. I just want some tips on how to keep a clean makeup look through out the whole day.

Cierra,
I totally understand where you are coming from. To prevent my eyeshadows from creasing, I use MAC's paint pots as a "primer" or "base" for my shadows. This is a cream consistency that will prevent creasing and the shadows are more true to color and blend easier. I am not saying MAC's paint pots are the ones you HAVE to get. Just grasp the concept of wearing a "base" or "primer" underneath your makeup. Also, for eyeliner I make sure to get an eyeliner and mascara that is waterproof. I won't lie, I do have to check on my makeup halfway through the day to make sure everything is holding up. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Thanks so much! I've been wanting to try one of the MAC paint pots! Usually instead of using a primer, I had been using liquid foundation as a substitute. But now I'm gonna invest in some MAC products.

It sounds to me you have oily skin when you apply your foundation and concealer set it with powder you must press the powder into your skin do not buff over. On your eyes put a skin tone eyeshadow over your eyes put at least 3 layers or more til the eye is totally matte , put on lid and under eye this will stop the production of oil which is making your makeup move. You prob need a primer aswell and make sure your foundation is oil free.

I always try and wait as long as I can to do my makeup before I do something..
it may sound silly but if I have something to go to straight after school I will wait and do my make up in the bathroom at lunch. lol

I have oily skin and aver since I switched to an oil free foundation,
I don't have a problem with running make up anymore (duh!)
Also, I blot, then powder to keep it smooth looking and not cakey.
for eyeliner on the waterline, I pack it with black eyeshadow after I'm done and I take a stiff brush and pack a translucent powder between my lashes before mascara.

Use a foundation powder to set your makeup and give your face an extra flawless look and used a makeup setting spray. I use urban decay's all nighter.

I spray UD All Nighter setting spray or MAC Fix+ to spray and set my makeup after it is done. My makeup lasts all day long.

You're welcome! Don't use liquid foundation because it isn't crease-resistant. Make sure your primer for your eye shadows are crease-resistant.

Primers. Use a good eye shadow primer and/or base. Primers prevent creasing and bases help to magnify the shadows. Bases that don't crease can be used as primers like NYX eye shadow base. Urban Decay, Too Face, MAC, NYX HD are a few brands that work well. You might also want to try a face primer and some kind of oil control product under your foundation.

This is what I use to keep the warpaint on:

Eyes: Urban Decay's Primer Potion
Foundation: MUFE HD primer [works best with their own HD foundation]
Setting powder: MUFE HD powder OR Guerlain's Meteorites in Teint Beige 02
Setting spray: Urban Decay's All-Nighter Spray.

I hate saying this, but I've got my routine down to where I can party and dance all night and pass out w/ a full face... and wake up, touch up w/ powder and I'm ready to go if it happens. This usually is commonplace for me during the holidays where partying is normal. Regularly, I would hate myself if I fell asleep with makeup... or at least wipe it off with makeup remover cloths.

I second what Soma S said. I use Smashbox Photo Fix instead and BareMinerals Mineral Veil to set it, but the primer + set it with powder + all-nighter spray is what keeps me going all day long. Like her, I can crash and wake up with everything still pretty much there!

I use primers & products that soak up oil. I use MUFE mat velvet and loreal's "decrease" ... that has made a huge difference for me.

Don't forget- skin care is mega important too. I need to clean my face in the evening and in the morning and use a good moisturizer. Moisturizer helps make-up stay on, believe it or not, as long you use the right kind for your skin type. I use Garnier Fresh Smoothing Moisture Rescue. I started on GArnier products when I lived in the UK. So glad you can get them in the US now. If your skin is not healthy and clean, make up will not stay on properly.

Yes, skincare is very important. IMO, a good lot of problems people have with makeup can be traced to skincare -- either incompatible products or the lack of a good routine.

Primers and setting sprays are also your friends. *nods*

Prime everything and use setting spray. If you have oilier skin, definitely take care of that with proper skincare and treatments..you'll need less products that way.

I use primer on my lids and face. Urban Decay for lids and Laura Mercier Mineral Primer to use with my mineral foundation and Nars Pro Prime Oil-Free for liquid foundation. First and foremost though I definitely follow a strict skincare routine as well. No sense in using make-up if I can't maintain the basics.

I use a primer for my entire face as a base, before applying foundation and concealer. And for the eyes i use a eyeshadow primer or cream base, that makes my eyeshadow stay on longere. And when i am done with my face make up, i set it with mac's fix + this makes my make up stay on for a entire day.

I use face primer, eye primer, set my foundation by applying a powder and on special occasions I will set everything with a setting spray. I've used the ELF makeup mist & setting spray. But I've heard that Urban Decay's All Nighter Spray is one of the best for setting your makeup.
