I spray my pressed powder based products (shadows, blushes, highlighters, face powder) with 99% alcohol. I was going to buy BSC at Nigels but it was too pricey for me, the girl suggested i use the alcohol and it works for me. I also spray pencil liners after sharpening and smudge on a paper towel. Same for lipsticks, although i usually use a lip brush or spatula. As for cream products like concealer, cream highlighters/bronzers/blushes, foundation I just sanitize a metal spatula with the alcohol and scoop out onto a steel palette. I have never tried cleaning cream products.

Hey Carmella!
I use to use alcohol to clean my products before I found BeautySoClean. I did a bit of research and found that alcohol can dry out your products and it doesn't cleanse our products the same way. BSC products help to remove bacteria and viruses and it also helps to refresh your cosmetics so they can last longer. It's so quick and easy to use, I spray everything down between clients and it dries in 10 seconds or less! If you're looking for something that will clean all of your makeup products including your cream foundations and lipsticks I highly recommend this product!

I purchased my pro set (makeup spray, wipes and brush cleanser) for $49 Canadian online. These bottles are huge and last for a while. Plus they sometimes offer discounts so you can save some money!

i watched a wayne goss video that said that it was essentially rubbing alcohol... and now i just read the ingredient list (found it on google) and it was alcohol with some other stuff in it.

I've used what wayne goss recommended on many of my products and it has been just fine

BeautySoClean all the way! It's inexpensive and a little goes along way. Oh yeah it's also so easy and fast to use. You just need a few sprays and you can swipe away the bacteria and residue on paper towel and the brushes are ready to use. In the morning if there is a brush I want to use I can just use BeautySoClean and it will be ready to use right after, no need to wait over night for drying time. I also have the Sanitizer Mist and the Wipes for my makeup and I love them! No more bacteria and germs and they help to extend the shelf life of makeup! I purchased the pro set too and the bottles are huge definitely will last a long time.

Just to remind people there are only a few products on the market that can kill germs - bleach, hydrogen peroxide and alcohol (Isopropyl [i.e. rubbing alcohol] and Ethanol [i.e. vodka]).

What are the ingredients in BeautySoClean? I know they state their products contain alcohol it in plus other ingredients but I can't find a list. Frankly to me it seems to be a big rip off when you can make your own for so less using alcohol and diluting it if you think it'll dry your products out.

If you don't want to use Isopropyl alcohol to disinfect your products than use Ethanol alcohol instead since that's a natural disinfectant.

Found the ingredients list and they use Ethanol alcohol which is what VODKA is. LOL Save your self money, go down to the liquor store but some Vodka and use that instead.

Ethyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Isopropyl myristate and C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate.

I took a makeup course in college and we used spray bottles of Vodka to sanitize all of the pressed powders and all of them worked just fine. I agree with Yasmin and would just go with that.

On set I clean with Parian Spirit or MUFE brush cleaner/Sephora brush cleaner. At home after a shoot, then I clean with MONDA Studios cleanser, dries in 30 min or less! I use beauty so clean to spray on shadows, powders, blushes etc. I use alcohol and baby wipes as well. I blogged about kit hygiene:

I like to sanitize my brushes and makeup on a daily basis with BeautySoClean, but every week I like to deep clean my brushes with baby shampoo for a clean fresh brushes to use on my face.

It's so interesting to see the different ways everyone cleans their products. Honestly I am just happy to see that everyone on here is cleaning their supplies. A lot of my clients don't realize how important cleaning your brushes and makeup products really is. Thank you all for you feedback!

I live in Ontario Canada where booze can be rather expensive. To purchase a bottle of BSC is cheaper for me than buying even a cheap bottle of Vodka. :(

@Lindsay - they don't sell mini bottles in your area? I know in my state, until the new law takes effect, vodka mini bottles can be bought for around $3 for a cheap brand. The Beauty So Clean isn't Ethyl Alcohol so it's okay to dilute vodka with distilled water.

My state recently passed a stupid law which essentially allows grocery stores to start selling spirits however it might mean mini bottles will no longer be sold because it can easily be pocketed. I love mini bottles (I don't drink alcohol but I use alcohol in certain food items like Tiramisu) because it's so inexpensive and I don't have to have tons of giant bottles of booze in my house.

Anyways, the problem I have with Beauty So Clean is they don't disclose their ingredients and make Isopropyl alcohol seem so bad.
