I just did a review on the Revlon Photoready Concealer (you can see it here: http://amberlikes.blogspot.com/2012/01/revlon-photoready-concealer-review.html ) and it got me wondering why companies would ever put shimmer in a concealer. Why would I want shimmer, something that is meant to emphasize and exaggerate, on something that I want to hide or cover up? Lol, it just gets on my nerves and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

You're not alone. Concealer is to conceal not to highlight. Sometimes I really wonder if it's men that come up with this nonsense.lol

Lol thank you! I guess it's not the worst thing under the eyes since sometimes I want something a little lighter to brighten that area up but that doesn't mean I want a stripe of glitter on my undereyes.

I do not like it. Like Shelley said..Concealer should only conceal.

Yeah, definently not good for spots or blemishes. But I think it would be good for under the eyes! Bringing light to the dark area and what not.

I can't understand why Revlon decided to add shimmer in the concealer. I don't want to highlight my dark circles.

Shimmer in a concealer is the silliest thought to me...Never seen a concealer with shimmer tbh,but,really-What is the point?

They put shimmer in that thing?!
Why in the world...

I didn't notice that this concealer even had shimmer and I have it... lol. I set it with a powder though, so maybe that's why I don't notice the shimmer?

Oh but it kind of is like those Physician Formulas things..ugh cant remember what it's called and I don't want to go look in my make up for it but...
it's like an eyeshadow shaped palette... it's for under your eye... Oh shit let me just go look.
It's called the Eyebrightener.. and you are supposed to put it over your dark circles. It's shimmery too. =/

@Dawn, I can't detect the shimmer in the concealer when I'm under my vanity lamp doing my makeup inside. In fact, it looks great. It's not until I go outside and see my face in the car mirror that I see it. It drives me crazy lol. I never needed to set it with powder on my undereyes for staying power, but maybe I'll try it anyway to see if it calms the shimmer down on me.

@Andrew B. I think you misunderstood my statement. I made no comment about male artists being horrible. I merely made a crack about how some of the products that come out to market lack any thought to what women are trying to avoid. And I said that maybe a man designed shimmer being placed in concealer. No need to get snippy about it....its too beautiful of a day....I'm all about peace and love. Sorry you took offense to my comment.

Shimmer in a concealer sounds like some sort of prank somebody would pull to try & piss me off. XD

oh boy i almost bought this concealer last night online! now i'm glad i didn't. i agree, no point in putting shimmer into a product that's meant to conceal. if they wanted something for a brightening effect, they should've made a light pink, matte concealer/brightener

They put shimmer in their concealer meant for wearing in photos? That's sad! I also almost bought it when I was at CVS last night! Glad I didn't

Kind of reminds me of what the comedian Mitch Hedberg (RIP) said:
"When I get a cold sore, I put Carmex on it, because Carmex is supposed to alleviate cold sores. I don't know if it does help, but it will make them more shiny and noticeable"

I love this product! I only use for touch ups at work, and apply it for under my eyes and around my nose where my skin casts a shadow and I love the natural finish it gives. It's smooth, brigtening, easy to blend and doesn't feel cakey. . To be honest the shimmer is really not that bad, it is illuminating so it will contain some shimmer, but it's barely noticeable to me, and I HATE even slightest shimmer in anything. I work in harsh fluorescent lighting in my office and I also have my desk near a huge wall of windows and I have never seen any obnoxious specs of glitter on my face. I wouldn't use this as a regular concealer, but maybe only to highlight or brighten darker areas of your face after concealing or applying foundation. The fact that it's a Revlon Photoready product which is notorious for having shimmer properties to enhance flash photography should have tipped anyone off though.

Odd, I've never noticed glitter AT ALL in my Photoready concealer.
