I think your face shape (oval?) would be fine with a heavy bang. Though wouldn't it be pretty hard to maintain such a heavy fringe with your hair texture? But then again, why not? If you're not bothered by the extra time you have to put in taming it everyday. It'd probably grow out in a jiffy.
Speaking of Zooey Deschanel, have you seen that little video she did with Joseph Gordon-Levitt for NYE? Too much cuteness.

The side-swept bang thing can get a little boring so if you have no problem straightening your fringe, you should go for it. I've always loved the heavy fringe.
I've been enjoying Zooey in "New Girl" and I had a little crush on JG-L since "3rd Rock from the Sun". I've had to re-watch it since watching their video. So silly.
Good luck with (I shall dub it) The Fringe Conundrum, Jenn!

I've had straight, full bangs for like, five years or so - I loved them. The only problem is keeping up with the growth, I didn't want to go to a hairdresses just to get my bangs cut every other week so I did it myself, and well, that did go wrong sometimes lol... now I've had side-swept bangs for a while, but with every episode of New Girl I'm contemplating going back to the straight bang, haha!

I really want them too but I'm really scared because if it goes wrong that's a long of growing time and I'm not sure it will suit me. From your picture it looks like it would suit you though.

My only problem with the heavy bangs was that you had to get them trimmed more often then side bangs. But besides that when i had straight bangs i didn't have any other complaints, except on windy days when they would blow everywhere and wouldn't go back down where they were supposed to be after, so i gave up with my front bangs :P

I would love to do heavy fringe but I have pretty thin hair so for it to be heavy it'll have to be a lot of hair. :/ I have side bangs but I hate that by hair is so flat it just looks dull. I have no volume at all :( lol.But I think it would look good with your face shape! Keep us updated! :)

@Jenn Whoa! You look great. Think you made the right move cutting your hair there. And now you can breathe a sigh of relief. The Fringe Conundrum is no more. Nyahaha!

I like it. A tip for if you want to cut them at home to make them a little shorter between cuts...take your full bang twist it twice, lining it up with the center of your face aka your nose...and cut off how much you want while it's twisted, just cut straight across the twist. You'll end up with longer pieces on the side just how your bangs are now.
