The dreaded ingrowns!

I haven't seen a lot on this topic around the Beautylish message boards and I need some help!

I regularly get a brazilian wax (about every 5 weeks) and I always get red bumps and ingrowns afterwards! And I don't mean just for a couple days after the wax, I mean continuously! I've tried looking up the best ways to treat it, but there's so many different options. Exfoliating, benzyl peroxide cream, salicylic acid, aloe vera gel, tea tree oil, tend skin, home made tend skin... I don't know what would be the most effective and how often and when to use them!

If anyone has a tried and true routine to help solve my issue it would be greatly appreciated :)

I tend to get in grown hairs as well on my bikini line. I read somewhere that Neosporin cream helps a lot and it also helped my acne previously so I decided to try it and it really helps! It also is great for razor burn. Hope that helps! :)

Hey Laura! Definitely, the whole point of the braz is not to get a bunch of ingrowns and little bumps... that sucks! I find that the type of wax the lady is using on you makes a difference... have you ever tried hard wax? It pulls the hairs from the root, and is waaaay more pain-free in regards to waxing. Also, my lady told me to get one of those cheapo loofah gloves (from target) and gently exfoliate up in a straight line to slough off dead skin (don't use a circular motion as this might break off hairs and lead to more ingrowns). Also, don't use those harsh acne medicines such as tea tree oil or benzyl peroxide --- all you need is some non-heavy lotion to moisturize and soothe your skin... hope this helps! :)

Forget all that mess...if you can afford it you should def invest in laser hair removal...shop around and research and u will never have an ingrown or throw out money waxing anymore!

Okay people, listen to me. I have the miracle product of the century that's about to fix all of our problems. I'm serious!

Now, let me first start off by saying that I am NOT a licensed aesthetician or dermatologist and really, I'm just a girl trying to help out! When I was starting to think about shaving my lady parts... I was scared. Lets be real here, the first few times? Didn't exactly pan out.

I began thinking to myself: "There HAS to be a better way." I didn't want to wax, too painful. I didn't want to shave, too itchy! Regrowth is the devil! I scoured online until I found something that looked promising. It's called "Magic Shaving Powder".

Great name, right? Well, I read on a few forms that it's the stuff "porn stars" use, and I mean... if it worked for them, right? Pardon the subject matter, girls! So I bought a can of the stuff and tried it out. I haven't gone back ever since.

Basically what it is, is a powder that you mix with water. Just follow the instructions on the back. It forms a paste, you slather it around down there, wait five minutes and voila! Nair for your down there hair! The best part? NO itchy regrowth. Sure, for a day you might feel a little prickly, but it's amazing. I promise. Think about it: the reason regrowth is so horrible is because when we shave it off, we're essentially slicing a hard edge into the hair. With this, it melts the tip of the hair away, so we're left with smooth regrowth! Oh, did I also mention that a can of this is about $3 a pop? AND it'll last you like two months?

Definitely cheaper than a wax.

I know what you mean- I use an epilator regularly down there and the ingrowns can be a real pain. I agree that GENTLE exfoliation can really help. Use a mild soap and rub gently. This will help lift the tip top of the hairs out from under your skin. You can use a loofah, or Fortune Cookie Soap sells a loofah like bag that you slide soap into and it works just right for me.

To avoid irritation, my miracle product is actually Visine. (Or any similar eyedrop.) It's gentle enough to put in your eyes, and it's designed specifically to calm irritationan and reduce redness.
