Well, I use my dad's nice nice camera but it doesn't even take hd video.
I'm saving up for one of my own. Luckily, most cameras these days record HD movies. I don't know what one is the best but most of pretty good and pretty inexpensive.

I think it's very good at recording videos, and everything looks pretty sharp! It has a microphone on either side of the camera so it will record your sound in stereo, and it sounds pretty nice when you play back the video. I love this webcam. =)

I use the Cannon powershot. It gives decent HD video. Check out newegg.com because they are frequently doing really great sales.

If you're going for low price, maybe a Flip? I had a Flip ultra HD and it had pretty good quality, but quit on me after EXACTLY a year, to the date. I am saving up for another Flip, different model though.

I use a Sony Bloggie.... It shoots and HD and shoots pictures as well its super easy to use and can be found for around $100 or less if you search on Craigslist... Check out my youtube page www.youtube.com/alicesunnnn if you wanna see what the quality is like... Good luck on your hunt!

I use a Nikon coolpix s8100, it takes amazing still shots and full 1080 hd, the video picks up sound well. It's the best of both worlds.

The real trick is LIGHTING! Sometimes even a lower end camera will do a great job with the perfect lighting! Also invest in a good backdrop. Even a pretty colored bedsheet tacked on a wall! I refuse to record anymore videos until I get the perfect lights & backdrop!

Tanecka is right! I totally agree that lighting plays a really important role in making your videos look great. Bright lighting helps your picture come out sharper too. Things tend to get noisy and blurry when lighting is dim.

if you have a good cell phone try the camera on that for a while. there are quite a few cell phones with cameras that shoot in HD. I have a Samsung Captivate and that's what i've been shooting on while i'm shopping for a more versatile camera i.e. one that can zoom in and out
